"A Very Dark Place" nearly killed me

Due to life, I was on my bike only for about 2 hours in the last 2 or so months. Decided to start again with one of the training plans and A Very Dark Place was scheduled as the first one.

Since I’ve had pauses in training like this before, I knew my FTP has fallen. I haven’t done any test, but simply lowered it by 10% before creating the plan. 10% sounded like a good estimate.

A Very Dark Place is basically 5 intervals of 4 minutes at high intensity. The first one was hard towards the end, got me a bit scared. The second one started getting rough in the middle and I just kept counting down the seconds. By the time third one was finishing, I was dying and barely holding 60 rpm to push through (and probably under power target). I’m sorry to admit I had to lower training intensity by 10% and even then, I swear to god I just wanted to die by the time the last interval was over. HR was basically maxed out after the third interval.
