Now that I’m doing harder indoor sessions, heat is becoming the real limiter — by the halfway point I’m dripping and the room feels like a sauna. I’ve got one small fan, but it’s clearly not cutting it.

How do you keep your pain cave cool? Are we talking multiple fans, a portable AC, or some clever airflow setup? And where do you position your fans for the biggest effect? I’d love to hear what actually works before I start buying gear.

I have two big fans one in front of me and one blowing in from the side.

Meanwhile I also have door and window open to the garden.

I have a plan about buying a third fan that I can elevate so it can blow over my back.

My set up is in my basement. In the winter, I cover the heating vents so it is always cool.

I have an 18” fan, angled upward, about 1/2 a metre / 24” in front of my bike. It has 3 speeds and it takes care of my main needs.

Last winter, I added a second small fan on the floor behind me to keep my seat more comfortable when doing multi-hour sessions.

I’ve been contemplating getting a desk, but I’ve been hesitating because I think it will interfere with the airflow and it’s not a big priority for me (it would just clean things up a bit + allow me to use a mouse/keyboard when riding).

Also the basement, so cooler in the winter. We have a dehumidifier running, which really helps with the sweat.

I have a Headwind fan and it’s great.

@richie_engineer Agree! Basement (always cooler), dehumidifier, and a standing, remote control oscillating fan
