# Kickr Core / Wahoo App / Zwift Cog&Click

Hi, I have a Kickr Core and use the Wahoo app to record my training session. Now, for various reasons, I would like to remove the cassette and use it with Zwift Cog&Click. However, I want to continue using the Wahoo app to record my training and not Swift or any other service. Is that possible?

As far as I know, the virtual gearing from the Cog/Click is only available in Zwift. So, provided you are using ERG mode for all of your workouts, then this setup will work.

I was thinking of upgrading too, but don’t know whether to get the multi-trainer or no free hub option?

I’ve got a Kickr Core, but a bit confused as the Zwift website seems to recommend going for the multi-trainer with free hub, but the wahoo website doesn’t include the multi trainer free hub body?

If you already have the Core and have a cassette installed, if it were me, I’d get the Zwift Play. It will let you use virtual gears plus a whole lot more than the Click/Cog combo.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me - whilst the Play looks good and I’ve got a cassette, but it’s quite noisy, and only seems to work well in a single gear. I’ve tried adjusting and can’t get it any better, but using it ERG mode works ok. I was hoping that the new cog with all the adjustments would make it more usable.

First I’ll say I don’t work for wahoo, or Zwift or have any skin in the game of what you ultimately decide to do. I’ll also say I’m not sure what the differences are in terms of your original question so maybe someone else will pipe in and answer that for you.
So, putting all that aside, are you unable to make the adjustments to quiet things down yourself because of a lack of tools, or experience? I ask this cuz you might need to bring your setup to your local bike shop then and have them get things running smoothly for you. It could be many many things from a stretched cable, to any combination of a worn chain, front rings or cassette, to an improperly set front or rear derailleur or a bent derailleur hanger.
And, I ask all of the above because I still think you’d likely be better served with the Zwift Play. If the one gear that works well provides a fairly straight chain line, that’s the gear you’d leave it in for the Play. And, set up is super easy. Virtual gear shifting on the Play is pretty intuitive (left button near the left shifters to shift to an easy gear, right button near the right shifters to shift to a harder gear). Plus then you also get steering, braking, haptic feedback and in game controls for not a whole lot more money.
This all assumes you’ve got a drop bar road style bike. If you’ve got flat bars or TT aero bars then the Cog/Click setup will be better for you as the Play are not really compatible with anything other than drop bars (without some type of bar adapters) and if that’s the case, I’ll just show myself out:

Hi.
I’ve had some more experienced bike friends look at the bike and tightened, adjusted everything we can. It’s a hybrid, so flat and not much room for other stuff, but the Play sounds interesting so will have a look into that.

For the Play to work on flat or straight bars like a hybrid you’d need to get a drop bar adapter like this

and it may end up being more of a faff/hack/bodge than a solution. The Zwift Play are designed to be attached to drop bars as they tuck in just under the hoods. I’ve seen pics on a Zwift forum of someone using the drop bar end adapters though so it could work.
How many cogs are on the cassette of your hybrid?

Just 8 and works OK, but noisier than I’d like and the Cog seemed to offer a way of finer adjustment

Considering the flat bar and the 8 cogs, imma revise my recommendation to say get the Cog/Click. It’ll give you 24 virtual gears and the click will fit nicely on the bars.
As for your original question, from what I can tell the one with multi trainer support has a hub pre-installed where the other one would attach to your existing hub. I’m not sure what would be best on your setup though.
