RGT Australia Christmas Cracker ITT Series

It’s almost time for of Christmas puddings, family time and sunshine. Whilst many of us will be heading outside to enjoy the sunshine, for those that want to enjoy a relaxed spin (or escape the family!) and work off some of their excesses, we’ve set up a series of daily time trials. 9 days, 10 stages and 4 timeslots will give you plenty of opportunities to enjoy yourself

All events have been set up as individual time trials with no draft. Event codes will be released the day before (but they are available in RGTDB now).

Saturday 24th December – Stage 1

Wollongong City Circuit – needs no introduction, 17.27km long with 274m of climbing.

It’s a new year, and time to act on those new year resolutions. This one is short and sharp. Only 6.23k long, but 321m of climbing. We’re heading to the Dandenong ranges for the 1 in 20 at the Basin.

Are there any Europe/UK times or do we have to work that out for ourselves??

@ozmadman I just used a time converter to see the slots that would be realistic for me to join.

@ozmadman RGT Australia is an Australian based community riding on the RGT eco-system (although we have members throughout the world). Have a look at Redirecting... for some background.

Events are set up to accommodate the usual Australia time slots (considering the various time zones in Oz). If you click through the links, you’ll quickly get a feel for the time slots. AEDT is 11 hours ahead of London and from prior experience, I think the 19:30 and 21:30 (morning your side), would be the most suitable

After Stage 1 of the RGT Australia Christmas Cracker ITT Series, Ben Kirk has taken pole position, comfortable ahead of Tony Symons and Mark Wardrop . For stage 2, we are heading to Christmas Island (where else!).

Results for Stage 2 of the RGT Australia Christmas Cracker ITT Series are in, with Ben Kirk again taking line honours, with Mark Wardrop snatching second from Tony Symons.

In the overall classification, Ben Kirk two consecutive wins puts him in a powerful position with Mark Wardrop and Tony Symons neck and neck for second.

Monday is a double header, hosting both Stage 3 and 4 - with the fast and flat courses undoubtable going to shake things up. Expect Marco Murphy and some of the other heavier riders to have a go. Links are below.

Ayer’s rock or Uluru is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area, known as the Aṉangu. Uluru is one of Australia’s most recognisable natural landmarks and has been a popular destination for tourists since the late 1930s. It is also one of the most important indigenous sites in Australia.

Both races take us on different routes around Ayer’s rock

Overall standings

Stage 3 and 4 certainly shook thngs up, a new stage winner, technical set up issues and some impressive times. Doug Hart took 1st place in both stage 3 and 4, with Marian Maricak and Danial Schoch taking silver in each respective stage. Ben Kirk retains the overall lead on slim margins.

Newcomer Steward Wyllie took gold in stage 5 of RGT Australia’s Christmas Cracker ITT Series. 16 riders competed in a tightly contested 4km individual pursuit w, with a mere 7 seconds separating 2nd and 6th. Doug Hart continued his run of good results, finishing 2nd ahead of another newcomer Joe Bimot.

Ben Kirk’s4th place was sufficient for him to hold his lead in the overall classification ahead of Tony Symons (7th on the day). Mark Wardrop holds on to 3rd in the overall classification.

Ben Kirk continued his good form and took Stage 8 of the RGT Australia Christmas Cracker ITT Series, Following his best performance of the Series, Mark Wardrop took second place ahead of a consistent Tony Symons. In the overall standings, Ben Kirk has for all practical terms an in-surmountable lead – but the fight for 2nd place is tightly contested and is likely to go to the wire, with a mere 5 points separating Mark and Tony.
