When riding a Magic Road in RGT, is there an option/setting to always start riding from the beginning of the course, instead of your avatar automatically riding before you are able to join the event?
I have tried both Quick Ride and scheduling an event, but if I haven’t already joined the ride by the scheduled time, my avatar will have already started the course, so I am not able to ride the first kilometer or few.
Sometimes I am not able to even join the event before it starts, as the “Ride Now” button stays grayed out until after the event has already started.
I am not sure that my answer is what you are looking for. However, I am always late to every ride. I am always left at the start and have to chase to get back on. If that is what you are looking for…I sign in before the ride starts, then go to get changed. I do this in case there is an upgrade or something that I am not aware of. It gives me enough time to run an update. My avatar is then ghosted out on the start line until I start pedalling. I am often two or three minutes late to the actual start of the ride, however, my avatar is on the start line waiting for me. I think you then have the option of teleporting if you want to, although I have never tried it. The app makes me ride all of the course. I don’t think that is the answer that you were looking for, but it might work for you as a way of getting round the problem that you are having. Note that your time only starts from when you start pedalling. So if I catch someone and we finish at the same absolute time, then my ride time seems to be lower as the app gives me a time of when I started pedalling rather than the start of the ride, which is what you would want.
Thanks! This workaround seems to let me ride the whole course from the beginning.
Just a little cumbersome as you have to monitor the RGT screen waiting until the “Ride Now” button is no longer grayed out after starting a Quick Ride. Hopefully Wahoo can make it easier to ride the entire route of a Magic Road on demand in the future.
One time it took the Magic Road close to 20 minutes to load after I clicked the “Ride Now” button. I ended up starting somewhere around mile 4. I had no control over that. And it happens even on my short Magic Roads that are only 12-13 miles. I start around mile 1-2. Unless I create the event well ahead of time.
So it might be nice to create an even ahead of time. But for those times where I wake up and decide to ride a Magic Road at the spur of the moment it would be nice for them to load just a little bit quicker maybe. Otherwise, why even allow users to do a Magic Road as a Ride Now instead of a planned event.
