New to RGT. What does one have to do to update?

I believe the app should auto update itself, you may have to follow the prompts depending what os you are on

I will say that the OP showing a link to support.wahoofitness BUT when you hover over it / click on it are taken to facebook is a bit off / naughty , here is the correct link

On Android device you should get update via Google Play. On Windows machine download installation file from https://eu.wahoofitness.com/wahoo-x-subscription and run it (it will install or update existing installation).

Pretty sure the windows app updates itself (did last time), I just can’t rememmber exactly what happens, 06:00 no update and can still ride

The Windows application updates were managed via Windows Store. But I read in blog here https://www.rgtcycling.com/blog/project-echappee/ that

“The Windows store experience is beyond our control. Until the store is improved, we have made the decision to discontinue updating the Windows Store listing.”

So I rather do RGT Windows app updates manually (at least I have it under my control).

Good call

I simply copied my post from RGT Facebook group that I have been moderating for 3 years. I did it in a rush so that you all had notice in time to do the update beforehand.
There was no naughtiness intended :slightly_smiling_face: - although I’m not sure why it would be considered naughty - it’s not the usual sort of Facebook group with the usual contentious opinions and nastiness. We run a VERY tight ship and many comment how friendly and welcoming it is :slightly_smiling_face:. The Facebook groups were the first on social media for RGT and offer a huge amount of resources and advice :sunglasses: Some of us are trying to bring some of that here :sunglasses::sunglasses:

Because any telling a user they are going one place, and taking them another I would consider being “a bit naughty”, just because you have said “it’s not the usual sort of Facebook group with the usual contentious opinions and nastiness” L-), doesn’t change that, you’ve said in the label “going to the official release notes” and taken me somewhere else, this would be considered spam if it took me to Bitcoin, or Zwift or …, some people do not wish to visit Facebook :-), and the naughtiness (uk, so just using it as in “not right”) is having them believe that they have decided to go to wahoo, and taken to facebook

Man, all y’all need to rethink your definition of “naughty.”

I’m quite happy to leave the group if my help isn’t appreciated here. I explained how the ‘error’ happened.
RGT is now a Wahoo product and we should embrace all of the available options to bring users to the platform and spread the word. No group is better than another - they all offer help and bring users together. I love RGT to the core and have been with the team for a long time. My one mission is to help others to get the best out of the platform.
You suggest my post could be treated as Spam - really? Why not just say ‘did you realise that link takes you to Facebook’ I didn’t and would have amended it given the chance.
Ask - don’t assume ….

Didn’t say that, just pointed out that the link didn’t match the descriptions and explained why when you said

Appreciated the post, and everything else, I know that this sort of thing isn’t important to most people (harrah, they keep me in a job) but I don’t use facebook block all trackers. if I click on that link in my lunch break, talking to HR in the afternoon

Actally @RGT-FB-Moderator that was a pretty poor, apology, Sorry for making this a bigger deal than it should have been, and you are correct, I should have just said that it pointed to FB

Sorry for my over reaction, and incorrect handling of the “issue”

Thanks @PedalMonkey  That is very much appreciated!
On re-reading my post, the link definitely takes you to support@wahoofitness and not to Facebook  So I’m not sure why it took you to Facebook.

Hi RGT Moderator

If I inspect the link, that shows https://support.wahoofitness, it shows a facebook url

I’ve just posted that so that I could check the https : // in my post didn’t get changed (that would have been embarrassing), anyway, I feel I’ve done enough harm here for one day, so I am going to go and ride RGT for 24 hours in penance

For those that haven’t seen the update process before (not the first installation) I can give a few tips from my own experience with Windows and iOS.

Firstly for iPads and iPhones, what SHOULD happen is that when you launch the current install of RGT, you will be shown the notification message and you should then click on the UPDATE NOW button at the bottom of the screen, you will be taken to the App store where you are offered the update - click update and everything SHOULD be taken care of automatically
The Windows updates are no longer handled by the Windows App Store as the process kept failing
For Windows, when you launch the current install of RGT, you will be shown the notification message and you should then click the UPDATE NOW button. That action should open a new browser window and initiate the Wahoo_RGT-x64.msix file downloa to your ‘saved files’ folder. Close the existing instance of RGT and then launch the downloaded file from it’s saved location to update RGT.
Once the update completes you will see 2022.06.29 in the bottom right of the log on screen :-).
@critmark and @Yanick I hope this helps to answer your questions
Thanks @rdo for the android explanation
Thanks @oggie41 for the screenshot of the release notes

Thanks - it WAS copied from my Facebook post in the RGT users group but when clicked on it takes you to the correct page  I see the same as you when I inspect the link. I guess that there must be something in your works place systems to trap social media content. There was where I worked and slapped wrists were sometimes given for repeat offenders .
At least under normal circumstances my link takes you to the right place. I’ll try to remember to add hyperlinks from scratch with future posts
