Victor Campenaerts was interviewed by Matt Stephens. They spent several minutes chatting about victor’s mental approach to cycling. There’s a great quote about the ability to push harder and longer than your competitors by embracing the pain and suffering: don’t be afraid of the pain. Instead, welcome it as bringing you to something good. Roughly min 42-44.

Reminded me of the mental training in Rue the Day

Saw this article about Mike Cotty. Not quite the same as your post but I thought it was interesting what drives him to ride.

> We all have rides we'll remember forever. But this new series explores which ones truly change us.

Also this article about Lachlan Morton wining Unbound was terrific and shows how he used mental focus and toughness - finding his “why”.

> **[Unbound, or Thereabouts: How Lachlan Morton Won Gravel's Biggest Race](https://velo.outsideonline.com/gravel/gravel-racing/unbound-or-thereabouts-how-lachlan-morton-won-gravels-biggest-race/?scope=anon)**
>
> Morton went to Mexico, did a bunch of adventure rides, and allowed himself to wonder how it would feel to win Unbound Gravel.
