Hope to see you all… in zone 2 Saturday ![]()
I’m still feeling all those sprints from Saturday! Hopefully my legs have cooled off by the end of this week
Turns out my zwift subscription ran out today, not the 18th. Unfortunately won’t be joining you.
Very sad to hear that Sir!
As it seems, this edition we will be a lot smaller group than the pretty big one last week. But fear not, we shall make up for it by quality of suffering and include you in thought as well.
If you happen to have the opportunity this season, we won’t be going nowhere till at least end of March. If you feel like having fun with us, there is a ride every Saturday to join up to.
Until the, suffer well Sir!
Think I’m going to do ISLAGIATT instead. Can’t take two hours z2 on the turbo and can’t get outdoors at the moment.
You’ll be missed… but ISLAGIATT seems like a good idea to substitute ![]()
At least it did at the time!
Lol well I don’t know how I got lost, without clicking away from the route, but I did… it was fun while it lasted!
That was weird. Not sure how that happened!
Those darn minions at it again, I’m sure. ![]()
To make it up to GvA I hopped onto Scotland After Party (?or something similar), and attempted to get top spot on a segment. Made it to third…then got passed on the final climb by a rider in a Wahooligan virtual jersey. For the nation, I made sure to summit first. LOL. Yes, I suffered today ![]()
Great Job Dame Isa! Sorry we couldn’t collect you. The Minions were too treacherous today.
Whoever’s definition of Zone 2 for that ride needs to be immediately sent to a Flogging Station
I had 2 hours of zone 2, today. This ride was definitely on the “high zone 2” side.
And with my hour “warm up” I ended up with 3+ hours. Definitely had some extra non-z2 spice. ![]()
“Only” 2 sprints and an epic KOM. ![]()
Thanks for the ride yesterday! Suffering together is better than alone. And there was mostly zone 2, with a few deviations to satisfy GVA.
It was a proud group of 10 Sufferlandrians that reported to the call to Flogging Station Nr. 6 on that day. We were highly motivated to do our very best and make this ride into a diligent flogging. The ride was a sufferlandrian Z2, so while there were only two sprints on the table today, there was a long climb with a kicker after a small relieve at the end.
While we had lost Sir Andrew @aksibe even before start to an injury, due to worse than planned weather, Sir Ruben @Medina81 had joined up on last notice. He showed once again why he is a true Knight and Legend. Crushingly strong in the sprints he powered the group all day long in eye blinding speed through any obstacle the flogging threw at us.
With happy chatter we went soon enough into the first trial, the flat sprint, to warm up the legs. Not feeling at my best, I botched that one completely, It was over before I even realized the line, but luckily it was a great sprint by everyone else.
(Stolen from Sir Azrines’s @Azrine Feed)
As this was too easy, the Minions had prepared another challenge soon enough for us. They started messing with Dame Isa’s @Isa connection. Somehow she was dropped far back and just as our legendary sweeper unit was trying to collect her, she was shipped off to way in front of us. When we compacted the Peloton again, except her in the front, she was suddenly behind us again. A real nice Minion “Trick”.
With not being able to resolve this we powered on, now a group of 9, and we took on the long climb to the small pass with more than 9k to go. This was were the real flogging started. There was no easy sitting in, we were on a mission. As we had lost some time with the technical before we now where all in. Would we make the pass before it was time for The Sip™ at 1 hour and 10 minutes in the ride?
After a quick stretch flat and short downwards with threw in everything on the last kicker and were rewarded by the rearing laser goat. We mad it with almost 3 minutes to spare. Can you see our W/kg in the picture? It was the purest of sufferlandrian joy with screaming lungs and legs all the way to this line.
The Sip™ was done on the down hill at the predetermined time and we celebrated the ride and the great company we were in. Now it was a mostly gentle, but still not short way to our last sprint.
It could almost have been a On Location ride for all the interesting things we learned today. Here we delved deeper on which is the Ride Sir Ruben hates most and how long a vEveresting lasts, if you you have Superpowers (like Sir Ruben has).
And we learned how exactly Real Pagne is made and which secret hand Sir Rich @rrutis has in all this.
With now pretty cooked legs the last smaller kickers with vGravel and even a few Cobbbbbles felt harder than they normally do. Not needing to mention this, we kicked on, gave our best and honored the flogging.
We embraced the line with a powerful finishing sprint emptying the fumes in the tank, concluding a worthy challenge at Flogging Station Nr. 6.
Hopefully Sir Evan @emacdoug will be able to recover until his great Quest for 6th Knighthood on Friday, where he will edge his name even deeper into the Book of Sufferlandrian Legends than it is edged from his countless endeavours already.
Thank you all for this stellar ride, all regulars and our first timers Citizens @Shaned1972 and @wmalexmann, especially of course Sir Ruben @Medina81 for pulling us through this hard day out.
If you feel you missed a special ride, you certainly did! But there are plenty more to come, more climbs, more sprints and more holy water.
Hope to see you with us next Saturday when it is again time for The Knight Rides!
Thanks so much for the summary @Blackwater. Reading these is almost as fun as doing the Knights Rides! Hope it’s fun for you to create them.
@Blackwater Another fantastic write-up. Almost as good as being there.
I don’t know how you missed the first sprint and yet managed to win it. And that screenshot somehow manages to not show #1 in the results list. ![]()
Funny how the Zwift minions manage to give us screenshots that never actually show the full results of all the sprints and KOMs. I even have an auto-created video in my activity that ends 50m before the line.
I somehow managed to finish second on both sprints. Oh well.
Still not sure how Dame @Isa was led of course by the Zwift minions (zwimions?). That’s a new and special type of suffering I haven’t seen before. Only on a Knight Ride, eh? ![]()
Glad to have so many fellow Sufferlandrians to ride with. Looking forward to next Saturday’s “recovery” ride. ![]()

Thank you Sir Ruben, I’m glad you like the write ups!
As it is a tradition set by Sir Ian @CPT_A, I naturally honor this duty as well. It is mostly fun to write it and to relive some of the fun we had, but if I went too deep on the Knight Ride or have to work on the weekend it can be a Type 2 fun sometimes as well.
By now, somehow the ride doesn’t feel complete before I finish the the tale of the latest adventure. Usually by then I’m with my head pretty much in planning the next ride and looking forward to it.
Still hope you have enough fun to join the ride with your most hated route in it later this season. ![]()
Ah well Sir, there are two ways to win a sprint in Z. The one on the board (which is way easier) and the real one at the line.
It is true that I “won” on the board the first sprint, but I needed a telescope to see the first riders crossing the line. ![]()
In the last sprint I did everything better and was actually at the line. I couldn’t tell if I was first or second, it was very close. I would not bet on me being first in a finish photo. But it was a awesome sprint of the bunch and I pulled it through with everything I had left, so I’m happy with that one.
Can’t wait for next week, but you will be forbidden to do sprints then. Even Sufferlandrian Knights do not recover faster by going faster… ![]()
Doing a Knighthood 6 times is mindnumbing. Leg numbing. Other parts, too. This is the purest embodyment of being a Sufferlandrian. The one who is doing this? Sir Evan @emacdoug!
A pillar of our nation, a shining beacon in the Couchlandrian darknes. A true Knight of Sufferlandria.
Of course this calls for Real Pagne, Painshakes and a huge Celebration. And new socks. But the celebration comes first.
The Knight Rides! The Celebration (On Neykyo All-Nighter)
As it is possible this Celebration also doubles as a recovery ride for Sir Evan, we are going out unto chamois flat road. And as we do victory laps we need 2 laps of course. And as laps are boring we do sprints. Many sprints. Tons.
Paving the route of Sir Evan’s recovery ride with diamonds of holy water, ferocious sprints and wild cheers. It will be glorious!
Join The Knight Rides! The Celebration HERE!
This ride is banded, so no one is left behind!
Everyone’s welcome, Knights and Citizens, BBC and all friends. Even if you don’t celebrate and just join for the ride.
Every diamond of Holy Water will be used to pave the recovery route of Sir Evan.
Guaranteed 100% GvA approved and Couchlandrian free.
This Knight Ride! is brought to you by the Sufferlandrian Ministry of Construction and Development.
