Ladies and Gentlemen
Starting this Monday 6th March, put together by Queenslander Ric Svanberg
Tour of South East Queensland - 4 Stages
Stage 1 - North Arm - ITT
2 laps of North Arm course on the Sunshine Coast will test you against the best local talent from Queensland. North Arm is one of the favoured courses for the Queensland Road Teams Series and other State level events hosted by the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club This course has a mix of undulations and false flats but also a couple of quad stingers in the last third of each lap where you will be wishing you’d chosen your road bike. Be warned, going out too early may leave you out of gas for the run home.
19.89km 264m Elevation
Stage 2 - Ipswich Criterium Park
Criterium Sweeping corners and one sharp turn will make Ipswich Cycling Clubs home course a bit technical and the small bumps offer opportunities for mini breaks that will test the field - 20 laps of this 1.3km course should make it fast and furious but remember the finishing straight is a false flat uphill to the finish.
25.92km, 173m Elevation
Stage 3 - Mt Cotton Kermesse
This 2.7km long track is quite lumpy and will be a real leg tester. Recently the course for the successful Sizzling Summer Series hosted by Logan City Cycling Club, this will be one for the light weight roulers amongst us. With 63m of climbing per lap, after 7 laps, we are sure you will have had enough punishment but, your sprint finish will still be uphill.
19km, 420m Elevation
Stage 4 - Mt Alford - Road Race
Gold Coast Cycling Club host ‘The Darren Smith Classic’ at this venue located behind the hinterland near Boonah. The 26.4km loop is also another favourite location for State level events and one lap of this will give opportunities for different styles of rider. Mountain goats might try to escape on the seriously steep but short climbs but may get reeled in on the downhill sections after… You might be best trying to escape around the 19km mark with some uphill just before the turn into Ganthorpe road.
