Does anyone experience an extreme delay in devices connecting to their Bolt or other bike computers? My bolt seems to have the hardest time finding some devices, taking minutes at times to connect even with the device awake and the bike computer held right next to it. And there’s no rhyme or reason, sometimes it will connect right away and sometimes it will take minutes. I don’t experience this issue with other devices (ie watches, wahoo X, other phone apps) just my Bolt. It’s done this since day one a couple years ago, I’m just tired of it and curious if I got a lemon or if this is a trend.
I’m on a ROAM v2 and I do notice a lag in connecting to some of my devices. Di2 is often the slowest, followed by my 4iiii single-sided PM. HRMs usually are pretty quick as is my Varia Radar RTL-510. Speed sensors are pretty quick too.
Di2 can sometimes take a couple minutes after I’ve already started to roll. And, with my PM, I’ll sometimes have to spin the cranks a few times, and on occasion back out of the sensor pairing screen then go back in.
My Kickr Headwind seems to connect almost instantaneously! That might be because it’s always plugged in.
It’s been a minute since I was using my Garmin Edge 530 (used before I got the Di2) and haven’t really noticed that much of a different tbh.
One thing that seems to happen randomly, but even this hasn’t happened in some time, is that my HR would “lose” the connection and report n/a while showing connected on the sensors page and I’d have a heck of a time getting it to start reporting HR again.
Edit: I should add that I think this is just part of living in an ultra connected wireless world. I usually just build in a couple minutes of fussing about before I head out for most rides.
I thought it was well known that hobby cycling consists of approximately one third faffing about, one half looking cool and only one sixth riding bikes. Perhaps there should be some amount of eating cake in there as well.
I have a Roam v1 and haven’t noticed any particular lag in connecting to my Assioma pedals or Tickr Fit HR monitor. It does sometimes take longer than I anticipate for the Element app on my phone to connect to the Roam. I have occasionally had to close the app and reopen it to get the Roam to connect with it. I have also noticed that the Tickr Fit will occasionally drop its connection for several minutes during a ride.
