Wahoo Roam v1 unable to display GRX DI2 data

Hello,
I moved my Roam from my old to my new Bike (Giant Revolt e+).
Adding the Bike to the Roam works fine.
To get the GRX DI2 Data I did add a Shimano EW-EN100.
Using the e-Tupe App I can see the Data and can configure the DI2 components.
The DI2 shows up as a Sensor and adding it to the Roam works fine, while it shows up with a Char/number Combination and a Crank as Logo.
All Datafields related to the DI2 shows “N/A” on the Roam.

The Roam and the DI2 Components are on the latest FW.

Is there a known issue?
Anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks
Patrick

I know that sometimes it takes a while for my Di2 to connect. Usually the last thing and sometimes not until I’ve started riding for a minute or 2. Also, and you may already know this, in order for Di2 to be “turned on” you need to press one of the paddles first.

Can you snap a pic of what shows up under sensors on your ROAM? I’m not entirely sure what you mean ny showing up with a Char/number combination and a crank as a logo?

I’ve got the R2 and this is what it looks like for me:

Thank you for your Reply, this is my first DI2 system.
I supect the Roam does not connect correctly.

This is what it looks like in the App

I’m not familiar with e-bikes or your bike in particular but I am suspecting that that is not your Di2 but your e-bike motor or perhaps power meter? Is that possible?

Here is an article on how to connect Di2 to your ROAM.

As the E-Bike did show up individually, I didnt think about additional Sensors that are part of the Bike. Will check if it could be a powermeter sensor in the motor.

I did follow the Article before but all it gives me is the Sensor I showed you :frowning:
I have seen various articles that it works fine with Garmin, so I wonder why it should not work with the Roam.

Again though you have to make sure the Di2 is on. And the way to do that is to shift a few times using the electronic shifters. You need to do this before searching for sensors.

I even tried driving up and down the street before discovering the sensor.
Can run further tests on Monday, like adding powermeter and cadence to the page to check if thats comming from the other sensor.

Thank you very much for your efforts!
It seems there is no Solution for my Problem…
As I was told, the DI2 setup in my Bike requires the Shimano STEPS Protocol, which Wahoo does not support on any Elemnt as it seems.

As long as there is no Workarround to have my DI2 use the standard DI2 Protocol or to train my Roam to support STEPS I will have to live without Gear information or the ability to switch pages using the DI2 Buttons.

But maybe someone has a hint or knows a Worarround?
Or maybe Wahoo adds support for Shimano STEPS?

That’s too bad. Thanks for the update though.

Sure, maybe it helps someone else who is in a smilar Situation in the Future.

I’m a bit dissapointed that Wahoo did not add STEPS to the supported devices, as most of the competitors do support it for years (it was introduced 2014 as per the Shimano Homepage).
For example Garmin did Introduce STEPS Support with the 1030 (2017) and 530/830 (2019)

Hopefully they’ll add it at some point. Especially since the sales of e-bikes has surpassed the sale of regular bikes in a number of markets afaik. At least in Europe.

Yes hope so too.
With the SRAM Karoo its understandable with SRAM vs Shimano but with an independend Manufacturer and with the amount of E-Bikes being used here in Europe its hard to understand.
Lets see what the future will bring
