Sounds so much like that phrase uttered by the comedian Russell Peters.
But really ouch on the repair and replacement costs incurred.

Thanks. Fortunately, the repairs were covered and the replacement became my permanent indoor training bicycle. It was the unexpected tooth work that set me back this year.
Oh same here! My Knighthood bike is sort of like my default indoor training bike too. Although I don’t really intend to keep it solely for indoor rides though since it has its perks especially up hills with a slightly better gear ratio in my opinion (50-34 up front and 11-28 at the rear).
I’m terribly slow posting this, since I acquired this bike in March of '23 and here it is October! (At first, I wanted to wait until I rode my knighthood attempt in April, and then I waited until getting my decals, which finally came just over a week ago!)
The bike is an Alchemy Atlas Carbon Road bike with Shimano Ultegra Di2 group and Alchemy Carbon wheels. Custom geometry and custom paint job to mimic a Woodrup frame I got in the 1980s. The top tube is “Ultraviolet,” the chain stays are “All-terrain Blue,” and the branding is “Light Lemon.” The down tube, seat stays, and front fork all fade from the ultraviolet to the all-terrain blue color. Alchemy is a local (Denver area) custom bike manufacturer specializing in Carbon Fiber and Titanium bikes–MTB, Gravel, and Road. Fantastic bike. I have loved every minute of owning it!
@pkdaylu Wow!
Absolutely stunning!!!
Titanium of course… Absolutely stunning bicycle.
What is it’s normal cruising altitude?
It’s garaged at approximately 5410 feet (1649 meters) in east Denver, but I rode it up to 11,992 feet (3655 meters) this past summer over Loveland Pass in the Colorado Rockies
Chapeaux Sir! I still entertain the hopes of similar, using the Team 7-11 paint scheme from, a la @DPhin.
That’s a beautiful bike Sir Paul @pkdaylu! I especially like the yellow accents on the bike coupled with the yellow bottle cages. Awesome!
Another retrospective new bike day… I bought my new bike last year, but only joined this wonderful community this year, but feel compelled to share belatedly… Plus today was a lovely day for taking photos…
BMC Roadmachine X - my first carbon bike, my first gravel bike, my first bike with electronic shifting, my first 1x bike since my 5 speed Raleigh when I was 10 years old, my first tubeless wheelset. It’s lovely, it brings me a lot of joy.
Those are all good firsts!
Drool
Really like the striking colour of the bike though. Am I seeing it right that it’s a glossy paint scheme?
Looks fast!
Cheers, yeah it’s a mix of matt and gloss…
Well, if we’re doing retrospectives, here’s my Time Alpe d’Huez which I bought at the start of this summer - photo taken on new bike day. Absolutely my forever bike.
OK, time for something prospective.
Parts slowly arriving. Will be my first build from scratch. Rotor crankset should arrive today. Really just awaiting frameset (with bars) - could be a few months away still but hope not.
Will be my first Italian “O” bike - built with a combination of pre-loved yet near new (e.g. wheels) and well-priced new parts making it easier for me to justify!
Wow! That looks/sounds amazing!
