Seeing this picture I wonder what kind of role a turtle could play in the Sufferlandrian cult, somewhere between Laser Goats , Fluffy , and Sanetsch Special Cows .
We all do this kinda thing…
I went on a ride with a cycling club on Friday, really wasn’t a tough one. Had helped a couple of people at the back who were struggling and then, once we were within sniffing distance of the cafe at the end I went for a bit of a sprint session just to get some work in.
As I was coasting at a fairly high speed towards the cafe entrance I was just gliding along, back-pedalling while the bike rolled, then thought “Ooh, I ought to dump a few gears for when I want to get going again”…
… and only just caught myself in time to pedal forwards again quickly before making a proper arse of myself in front of everyone
Photo from last week’s mostly gravel (metric) century in the North Shore of Vancouver, Canada. Taken from the Spur 4 bridge looking east towards Mount Seymour.
I was pretty done by the end of the ride and very glad the gravel loop was mostly under the trees as it got quite hot by my Scottish standards! Only my second century of the year (& 5th ever) but managed to avoid the bonk this time so quiet pleased with myself
The ride on Strava for the curious.
Absolutely!!!
A couple more from some rides squeezed in on the recent family trip:
The last one scared the **** out of me even more than the gradients round there.
Also whilst browsing the local shops:
About an hour before taking this we had been sat in a restaurant and we could hear the band in the bar next door. They were covering a Simply Red song, yet come the chorus one of the members struck up a cow bell, which drowned out the rest of the band. I couldn’t help but giggle. I was looking round for Ferrell and Walken.
WYKYK.
Edit: can’t spell!
Here’s a photo of Eddie Rogers (producer of The Knowledge podcast) and I from our recent filming trip to Switzerland (we snuck in a few cheeky rides). And a photo of Eddie, myself and the illustrious Francois Guguen, who produces The Sufferfest and ProRides videos. Epic times!
Mt Ventoux… Great suffering: (Strava link)
So great, I had to do it again later in the week:
This time I took a shorter route (Strava link). Funny enough, compared to the virtual version of this route on Rouvy, the climbing time was pretty much identical.
Thanks to SYSTM / Sufferfest and its community, i had the power and pacing, but - more importantly - the confidence to tackle this climb. Thank you!
Congratulations!!
The nice thing about bikepacking is that you have all the time in the world to carefully frame your snapshots en route.
