Incidentally, there is a beta of ANT drivers for Python already and Home Assistant is written in Python. I don’t know Python and am learning it now and how to build home assistant integration. My plan is to integrate a simple ANT USB stick into home assistant. I think this will be easiest. In the mean time I did spot a Bluetooth presence detector. Haven’t had a play but if a Bluetooth device appears, such as a power meter, I’m pretty sure it could be used as a trigger for other events. No need for pairing. No need to break encryption. All it sees is the device has appeared and the signal strength.
