Bolt on indoor trainer

Hi, I thought I would do a workout(igniter) saved on my bolt on my indoor trainer ( Tacx Neo). Out side, I use this as my TT warm up, it runs in level mode so it’s up to me to meet the power targets. Inside it seems to stay in ERG mode and keeps you midway with the target power zones. It’s obviously taking the power from the trainer but there seems to be nowhere on the Tacx set up to fix it at level mode only setting things at 100% which is not level mode. I have tried to Google it but just get the usual AI answers that are rarely correct. Thanks

There should be a data page on the bolt for trainer control where you can turn off erg mode.

Thanks, any pics as I have gone through the whole thing and had it for years and have never seen a data page ( version 1)

I’ve never tried it on a Gen 1/2 ELEMNT, honestly but I know there is one on a Gen 3.

Okay. So I just scheduled Igniter and started riding it on my B3 using my Indoor Cycling profile.

At first I didn’t have a trainer control page and I checked my riding profile in the Wahoo app.

I have separate Indoor and an Outdoor riding profiles. In my indoor profile I see this:

Once I started pedaling I was able to see this page on my Bolt3:

Then I hit the Mode button and changed it out of Passive mode to Level mode:

There are 3 or 4 different modes you can choose from.

I have a Kickr not a Tacx, so I don’t know if this works when using anything other than a Wahoo smart trainer, but I assume that it does.

Turn on your Bolt and open the Wahoo app.

Go to the devices menu (bottom right corner).

Then select your Bolt from the devices list.

Tap on Workout Profiles

Make sure you have separate indoor and outdoor cycling profiles. If you don’t, then create an indoor profile. If you do, then tap on your indoor profile.

Then at the top of the next page tap on Workout Pages.

You should then be able to scroll down to see the Kickr Control page. When you tap on that you can pick which data fields to display on the Kickr Control Page.

Once you’ve done that you can save it and sync it to your Bolt. And before your next workout be sure to select your indoor profile and make sure all your sensors are connected including your Tacx.

Note that it says “Displays when Kickr is Moving.” When I did my earlier test I didn’t see the Kickr Control Page until I actually started pedaling for a couple seconds and my Kickr registered the power input.

Again, I know this all works with a Kickr. I am assuming it should also work with other smart trainers. I could be wrong because you know what happens when you make assumptions…. You make an a$$ out of you and umptions.

Hi again
Ok, went to the Wahoo app only to see that my bolt was not showing in the devices list even though it is paired in the Element app. The QR scanner opened in the Wahoo app but as soon as I tried to scam the QR code on the bolt I got what you see in the attachment and the app shuts down? Anyone else had this?

So what you are using is a Bolt gen 1?

I thought all 3 gens of Elemnts were migrated over to work win the Wahoo app - except for the Rival - but I might be wrong on that.

@Helga @Rupert Can you help with this?

Nah only the Gen 3 work with the Wahoo App at this point

Mines getting on a bit now, maybe time for an upgrade.

I know it’s more than a bolt but the Roam 3 is so nice. The touchscreen and spoken turn by turn are worth the difference to me.

You usually have to change the control mode directly on the Wahoo head unit rather than the trainer settings. While the workout is running on your Bolt, try checking the menu options to see if you can toggle it from ERG to Level mode from there.
