Covid

Do I look as bad as I feel? Well, I avoided COVID all through the pandemic, during the height of the pandemic and up until today, I’ve been able to avoid it post pandemic….until today. I guess April 29, 2025 was my chosen date to catch it. Holly Shit. I haven’t been this sick in years. And I mean YEARS! Probably since the kids were like 1 and 3. They are 28 and 30 now. Absolutely zero energy, high fever and fairly severe chills. I’m chilling so bad that the tips of my fingertips are tingling like they’ve been expose to extreme cold weather for too long. It’s odd but I seem to “feel” like this taking a long lasting toll on my physical well being. I hope I’m wrong. The way I’m currently feeling I would say that my FTP will be about 10 watts once recovered. Two days ago, this past Sunday, I absolutely crushed The Wretched. Today I don’t have energy to walk the dogs around the yard….but I do.

I avoided it all the way until Sept 1, 2024. Now almost 8 months later I’m still not 100%. Some people seem to bounce back quick. Others don’t. So even if you feel awful today, you might feel a whole lot better in a couple weeks. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear it finally found you, Sir Eric. Take it easy, way easier than you want for way longer than you want to.

I caught it so many times I lost count , over four times. Once it hit me harder than maybe one in my life prior. The first few vaccines I got put me in bed for a whole day too. I would take the flu any day over it.
There’s a great thread in the forums with a chart I think Dame Isi shared, with a recommended schedule for returning to activity after covid safely. I recommend when you’re up to it, checking it out.

Me and the whole family got it on Boxing Day 2020.
Turned everything through and including New Year into a wash out. It took three months before I could tie my shoe laces without getting out of breath.
Of course this was about 6 months before vaccinations were rolled out, so we had it at full chat. I’m sure I’m a Long Covid case, but only enough to know it’s ruined my VOmax and FTP probably indefinitely. In daily life it’s just that I start breathing hard when pressing on walking at pace or taking stairs earlier than I used to.
I’ve ridden my bike maybe 2 dozen times outdoors since and had almost as many abortive attempt to do a fitness plan on SYSTM.
I hope you had one of the vaccines at some point in the last few years, it will soften the blow and maybe limit it to a week before you start back into life. Good luck!
