Will do! I’m hoping to grab a photo after each one and post it, depends how long my fine motor skills are retained on the day. Will post something after each one at least!
I’m assuming that’s 07:30 AM CST right? Edit: nvm, I see you said 1:30 PM UTC.
Belatedly joining the conversation. All the best for the quest, and the fund raising, and just getting through this time in your life. With you in Spirit.
Right!
Thank you so much Sir Nick. I really appreciate the support so much.
Probably too late to chime in since Isa’s playlist is set, but I really second this. Doing clobber as my 7th ride thinking that, “well it’s only a FTP session how bad can it be”, it really was quite bad.
This ride will always have a special place in my heart for many many years to come. The final sound track has a lot of meaning to me and every time I do this ride and hear that song, my eyes always tears up.
But WOW! 9H at the very end! What a way to end it! This is some serious badassness in the making!
Don’t forget to have a good mix of sweet and savoury ones too.
My go to would be bananas, multigrain soy milk and some boiled eggs.
haha. Great renaming here, Sir!
Ooooops!
But I really meant cobbler
That’s what makes it funny
We think alike! Well, except for the soymilk. My huge food/fuel line up is:
Drinks: Hi5 gels and electrolyte mixes, water (do I need to say this one?), beet powder in water, pickle juice, pickled beet juice (sweet and sour!), a coca cola on hand and a bottle of cold black coffee for the end rides.
Food: Bananas, boiled eggs, peanuts, buttered toast, peanut butter sandwiches, marmalade on toast, marmite on toast, clif bars.
Extra: Dried mango strips, gummy worms, sour keys, dark chocolate, beef jerky, peanuts, cashews.
There is a long counter beside my bike so I plan on laying out the whole thing like a buffet so I really just need to keep putting hand to mouth and make sure I get enough calories (300 ish) an hour.
I love the auto correct to Clobber. It’s perfect!
Thanks for the encouragement Sir DarrenWCKam. 9H at the end, well, go big or go home right? Wait, I will be at home. Hmm…
P.S. Attacker…yes, it is really a wonderful workout It is funny how some videos really hit us right in the feelers once we get to the end. It’s one of the best things about Sufferfest videos. Hopefully I don’t get all emotional until the end of 9H…the MTP focus exercises this week are prepping m mindset like they should (I hope).
Edit, needed a spreadsheet to print off and keep me prepped for each one/give a good sense of where I am versus time of day. I am a clock watcher…
Talking about electrolyte drinks, I made my own concoction back in May and it’s something I wouldn’t do again, since it didn’t taste as good as I would have envisioned and thankfully only 3 bidons worth of it was made.
The rest of it were isotonic drinks like to Pocari Sweat and the local 100Plus isotonic drinks.
Good that you have that much variety of food! Back in may, I chose to have chocolate paste buns, red bean paste buns, bananas, chocolate chip cookies and a couple of boiled eggs and of course some gels to get me through the day.
This was a life saver for me! Haha!
Remember to plan for things that can go wrong too! Rarely things goes totally according to plan. Download the workout videos yes?
All the best!
I set a timer as each workout finished for 8 mins, so I had a 2 min warning to get started on the next, and had some potential faff time should connections drop out.
I got this piece of sage advice before my attempt, and I was happy that I followed it.
Excellent reminder, thank you! Planning to shut off my windows OS auto updates to prevent surprises on the pc.
Can I still download ten or is it limited to one at a time? I don’t recall since the switch to Wahoo.
Sage advice indeed about the 8 minute timer, thank you! I read that earlier in the forum and then forgot. Really appreciate the reminders all!
I always get the best results when downloading one at a time. You might get, erm, bunged up if you try to download all 10 at once.
Edit: but 100% do that now and don’t wait until the day.
I think the app will not let you download more than 3 or 4 at a time.
I Hey Googled the timer for 8 minutes after each ride. Hahaha
Oh the eight minutes passes by very, very quickly!
Well, it’s just a few minutes to showtime for our next prospect.
Get your best meme’s loaded, fire up the sarcasm machine, and get ready to hunker down for some serious badassedness coming your way from the surreally warm (for this time year) clime’s of southern Manitoba. With a forecast high of -1°C a decent chance of lava snow and guaranteed sufferin’, let’s gitter dun.
May GvA be with you @Isa and come what may, may your quest be Glorious!
I don’t expect to be able to log in much today to track progress, but I’ll be relishing the thought of your suffering and struggle! Just don’t let the laser goats get near you!
And in anticipation of the glory and honour of the day, I visited the Go Fund Me page you started the thread with and chipped in a small holiday amount.
Have fun storming the castle!
