Disclaimer: I haven’t done a knighthood yet. Didn’t have a cause. Suddenly, I do. I am not a fundraiser. It’s not something I will ever be good at.
My cause: My cousin, who was like a sister to me growing up, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and deemed palliative. Here is the GoFundMe page.
If you are able to donate, please do, and add any message with SUF or the like in it, or post here if you have a video to add to workout list. Even a kind word or a bit of cheering to eat nails for breakfast this Saturday is greatly appreciated.
Any donation from a Sufferlandrian before 000 Manitoba, Canada (CST or UTC-6) Saturday (sorry no Sufferlandrian 50 hour window!) and I do Full Frontal on Saturday, NOv. 23rd.
Any donation of $100 Canadian or more and you choose my videos! The Model has already been selected as one video.
If by some crazy freak accident this fundraiser ever gets to $5000 I solemnly swear to do the same set of workouts (repeat the knighthood) within six months of the first one. Provided I survive the first attempt of course. Harhar. Bring your dark humour.
I am unable to set a firm date for the first knighthood yet since I do not know what other steps I need to take to assist. Entire family is shocked and trying to mobilize at this time. EDIT: Tentative dates are Dec. 25th , Dec. 31st, or Louis Riel weekend in February, depends on how things transpire.
Thank you for reading and my greatest respect to all of you who have already dealt with this and similar situations.
I’m so sorry to hear this @Isa. I hope you find solace in your love for Kim and her family and in theirs for you.
And, of course the greatest mythical nation in the whole wide world is behind you so, let us know once you’ve firmed up your date and your list so we can laugh and point and otherwise mock you for your folly. Also, if I’m available on your chosen date, I’ll join you for at least one of your rides. Good luck with everything and know that our thoughts are with you.
Dreadful news, done what I can, didn’t see anywhere to add SUF or a message but that’s not the important bit. Good luck to you all with the fundraising and care. #morethanme
@emacdoug thank you so much. I am truly sorry for what you have been through also. @Glen.Coutts Thank you. We are doing what we can and like true Sufferlandrians will not give up until…after it’s over, maybe never actually. I really appreciate that and I will let you know as soon as I have the smorgasboard of extra suffering finalized.
@fukawitribe Thank you so so much. I thought it was really odd no one was posting messages - after some digging around it seems like the site works so that nobody can comment unless they click a link within the receipt they are emailed that says " Increase your impact You still have a chance to show your support: [Add a comment]"
That’s quite hard to find and I can’t say I like it Comments are hidden in the fine print of emails…
Please feel free all of you to PM your chosen video or post here, whatever is easiest.
And so, Full Frontal this Saturday is a go. Will share results once I’m up off the floor.
It was a really, really rough week for me personally. Woke up this morning not feeling great. My Garmin watch rated me at 60% haha. I figured if I could get through FF at all it was a win, and hoped for anywhere close to 130 FTP (my last test was 147).
Logged into System and it suggested I take it easy as I haven’t done a workout in over two weeks (I reactivated for this, have been zwifting since they ninja charged after my free trial ran out).
I didn’t come back to Systm for Wahoo take it easying, I came back for SUFFERFEST. Map is my weakness, you’ll see how bad it is BECAUSE I AM POSTING GRAPHS. Penance will be made for that. I had to pause halfway through the MAP section to use my SufBucket and disgorge the coffee and electrolyte that apparently wasn’t quite digested yet… I have learned the trick is to not get off the bike, if you can help it, and then you just carry on like nothing happened.
Made it through the FTP before having a really good cry and still had time to sink another shaft in the courage mines and empty it all out at the end.
Huge thanks to all the support here and the kind knights coming to aid this quest.
Results of today’s paincation:
THIS is what Sufferlandrians do! Freakin’ inspiring @Isa. Seriously. And I’m not afraid to admit one of my eyes might have, erm, “bled” a bit, when reading you:
Way to get after it despite all obstacles in your way and congrats on completing FF again. Such a daunting test at the very best of times.
@Isa , I’m so sorry to hear what your cousin is going through. As others have said, there is a whole community here rooting for Kim and for your whole family.
The Suffering you’ve done would be impressive in and of itself, nevermind considering everything else you’re dealing with. As Sir @Glen.Coutts said, please share when you’ve chosen a date to storm the castle. I’d love to get on the bike and ride alongside you. And, you know, also mock you and question your life choices.
My son-in-law has been fighting throat cancer, also stage 4. Last week he was told that they will need to remove his tongue, larynx and lymph nodes as they are all cancerous.
I’d like to suggest The Way Out as one of your quest videos. It’s a personal favorite, and I pray that God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Both for your cousin and my son-in-law.
Aw man! Sorry to hear about this too, Sir. Fecking cancer can go feck itself!
With all respect, @Sir_Brian_M The Way Out is NOT an eligible quest video and having it as 1 of 10 would invalidate the attempt. (see most current list here.
Despite that, it is also a favourite of mine. Right from the opening music, it just sets the mood for a great escape.
Sir Brian. I am so, so sorry to hear what your family is dealing with. I will remember your family in my prayers also. The promise to make a way out is one of the most powerful there is.
Even if The Way Out isn’t a knighthood video I will include it in my preparation. It seems my promise to repeat the list might need to be fulfilled so I can edit it in my repeat after the official list is done.
