I use in Auto Max backlight setting after poor exoerience in Auto when I bought Roam 3 last year. Been OK until last few weeks where in UK some rides with strong sun but low to horizon.
Clearly, Auto Max increases max backlight drive level to backlight LEDs. I have some experience with TFT screen product design and assume PWM control of LED drive. Just wondering if Auto Max is 100% on, or has Wahoo limited to a lesser value to achieve longer ride battery operation. I for one could accept lesser run time for the sake of improved readability in sunlight. Questions for Wahoo:
- Configurable PWM % in app with declared estimate of run time limitations?
- Widen Auto range, ie brighter in stronger light, darker in low light, improve battery saving when auto pause, until screen / button touch.
- Is max already PWM 100%, if so how about future Roam 3 rev A upgrade with less series resistance?
- Is Ace better than Roam 3?
Hopefully Wahoo product designers get to see this post. My TFT experience includes information screens in public transportation with greater than 2000cd/m2 backlights.
