Kicker core System

Hi,

Newbie here, when i’m using the training plans with my Kickr Core, it suggested a cadence and power. If I match the cadence, power always seem under the target. If I pedal to the power it’s always lower than the cadence. I’ve set the gears midway on rear as suggested in the start up guide guide. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I’ve not dialled in? Or I should I relax about it?

Assuming from the title of your post you are doing a workout in SYSTM. Also, assuming that with your gears set up mid-cassette you are using ERG mode while riding. Can I also assume you are using the cadence calculation provided by the Core, or do you have a separate cadence sensor?

Assuming my assumptions are correct, then I’d say a couple of things. First, if using ERG mode, then you can “ignore” the power target and focus instead on cadence as the power will be set by the workout and controlled by the Core. It’s the main advantage of ERG mode.

I’d guess you are seeing power fluctuations because you have not selected “ERG mode power smoothing” either in the SYSTM settings (available once you start a workout) or on the Wahoo App (available under the Kickr Core settings). It is 100% normal for there to be power variations with slight cadence variances and varying pedalling smoothness and choosing the “power smoothing” option in SYSTM and/or the Wahoo App won’t change that, but, what it will change is the graph you are looking at so it will become pancake flat while riding and/or afterwards when you review it. Some people, like me, prefer the flatter graphs in both instances (even though I am well aware that my pedalling is FAR from smooth :joy:) and some people absolutely hate it and will tell you to NEVER use the power smoothing feature.

Here’s a summary view of the same ride with power smoothing off and with it on

Thank you so much fr that your assumptions were spot on. Ive now found the “smoothing” switch so i will give it a go. Thanks so much!
