Here’s my succes story: About three years ago, I decided to sign up for the 2020 Liege-Bastogne-Liege sportive, a 255km (and 4500m climbing) as my dad did it a long time ago and never stopped talking about it.
I finally managed to do it last weekend:
Never having done anything over about 150km, I set myself a goal to do it within 10 hours. In the end it was 10:02, which is close enough for me (Some of the feeding stations were rather busy)
Did think of @abicarver every time I was barreling down a poorly surfaced hill at silly speed, telling me: “relax into the pose”.
What a fantastic achievement! 10 hours is wildly impressive. I am happy to hear you could channel my attempt to relax your nervous system as you sped down those hills!
