Hello everyone,
I’m currently using a Wahoo KICKR Core with an older bike and have recently acquired a Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7 (105 Di2, 12-speed) equipped with a 4iiii single-sided power meter. I’ve noticed a significant discrepancy in power readings between the 4iiii and the KICKR Core—approximately a 30W difference at FTP level, with the 4iiii reporting lower values.
To investigate this, I mounted my Canyon onto the KICKR Core to compare power readings directly. However, I’m uncertain if I’ve set up the bike correctly and want to ensure everything is properly installed to avoid any potential damage.
Question 1: My Canyon features a “quick release”-style thru-axle system. When mounting it on the trainer, I used the bike’s native quick release skewer without adding any additional components, such as spacers or adapters, to protect the frame from the trainer. I did leave all the spacers in place on the cassette. Could this be an oversight?
Question 2: Upon fully tightening the quick release to secure the bike, I noticed that it pushed out the cap visible in the second photo. Is this normal behavior?
I want to ensure that my setup is correct and safe for use. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
