My Roam v1 has suddenly started to switch itself off during rides. Even though when switched back on, it says there’s plenty of charge. This hasn’t been a gradual decline in the amount of power the battery can hold - it went from all day ride with no problem to switching off after less than an hour, which seems like a bug.
I recommend contacting Wahoo support first. Given, that’s its a Roam 1, probably now about 5y old?
If Wahoo can’t help, then my opinion is that the symptoms you describe could relate to battery failure. A common end of life failure is increase in internal resistance. Battery can appear fully charged but a high current event can cause voltage to dip to cause shutdown.
I searched whether repairable, found the link below but expert skills needed:
That definitely sounds more like a software glitch than a typical battery wear-out. Before looking into hardware repairs, have you tried a factory reset or clearing the cache? Sometimes a corrupted file can cause these sudden shutdowns even with a full charge.
I have tried a factory reset but the unit still turns itself off after five minutes or so.
Thanks.
