Roam 3 easy improvement suggestions

There are several improvements Id like to suggest for the UX touchscreen experience. Personally I hate touchscreen with all my power. I don’t see the point wrt rain sweat bumpy rides etc. Roam v1 nailed the button controls apart from map panning.

Anyways to make the button use a bit more user friendly I suggest:

  1. On the map page when toucscreen is dissabled, you can use the bottom left button “three dots” to select the route or layers menu. It would be nice to also add the little lock icon to that selection cycle so that it is possible to pan the map without having to enable touchscreen in the main menu. Then pressing the lock button after youre done panning it would switch off touchscreen again and you can use buttons as before.

  2. On the elevation page you cant zoom the elevation graph without touchscreen enabled. Please also switch the lap button here for the “three dots” button to be able to select the elevation graph and zoom using the side buttons.

I think these make a humongous improvement in usability for those who don’t accept to be force-fed touchscreens and probably these improvements are low effort/weight for your devs.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

I have no problem with touchscreen but only use buttons riding, useful for moving around map when lost.

My concern is readability of text due to use of small font size and poor contrast eg white text on pale blue background. My visual acuity is 6/7.5 due to cataracts developing. Was a Bolt V2 user, upgraded to Roam 3 thinking larger screen would help but some text like notifications smaller than Bolt V2. Black text on yellow would provide better contrast.

Voice instructions on Roam 3 are really helpful, since I can’t read the navigation pop up on display. Instructions are clear and intelligible but the instruction ‘Continue’ sounds like ‘Cont…’ in noisy traffic. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: i return complementary expletive each time the voice says that
