Training program for weight loss

What do you guys think about building a training program to support weight loss. A mix of endurance, sprints (or the equivalent HIIT training on bikes) and etc ?

endurance training on its own doesn’t enhance weight loss. you need a healthy diet and (if possible) heavy strength training to improve muscle quality and energy requirement at rest

Diet definitely is a key factor. Saying that, I would love to have a training program to support calorie loss.

It depends on a lot of things such as your experience with structured training, fitness level, specific training goals (e.g. upcoming event), how much time you can dedicate to training and how much weight you want to lose. If you’re not following any structured training plan at the moment then training consistently with any plan will usually lead to weight loss, provided you keep your diet in check.

Matt Fitzgerald’s book Racing Weight has some good information about losing weight while maintaining performance levels. The general gist of the book is around diet quality and focusing on what you should eat rather than what you can’t, and around upping protein and lowering carbs so you can save your carbs for before/during/after your workouts.
