I’ve been using Linux for quite some time, Fedora and EndeavourOS. However, I’m still struggling with one issue: getting Wahoo SYSTM to work.
I couldn’t get it to install via Lutris, but I managed to run it directly through Wine. Unfortunately, Bluetooth doesn’t work in this setup, even though I can pair the Smart Bike with the OS itself. Then I’ve tried to run the Android Version of SYSTM via Waydroid, but still I cannot get Bluetooth to work.
I also tried adding the app to Steam, but no luck there either. The app is available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. I assume the Windows version is the only viable option here for desktop use.
Does anyone have a solution for this, other than running Windows in a VM?
I am keeping a dual boot just because of SYSTM right now.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
not really what I meant
I was wondering about device passthrough, and if something is blocking the bluetooth device
Which is why I asked about ant+, assuming you have a ant+ dongle, and the rest of your kit can output to it.
I tried making it work for a bit under Linux, via wine but didn’t get very far. Ditto trying a couple of the x86 based android emulators to run the android app.
I meant to get around to making a VM to see if that would work better, but as I have a spare laptop capable of running SYSTM and Garmin Connect on windows I just use that, spinning it up when I need it, with a windows partition on the other one just in case I need it.
The only way this is ever really going to be reliable is when/if they incorporate it into a web app.
Thanks, yes, seems like. But Wine 10 will be out very soon, in a couple of days, and it might bringt better bluetooth support. I am dual-booting for now.
Just a bit of an addendum. In another forum I was made aware of a few web based training apps (which I won’t link here for obvious reasons) which using modern browser functionality link fully with bluetooth based trainers, HRMs etc., so it’s totally possible. You have to hope that Wahoo are on the ball enough to go in that direction don’t you?
EDIT: Or more likely, buy one of them up and develop it into their product.
Either way, Wine 10 hasn’t been the solution so far. Have got SYSTM running with a lot of teaking, much more than Wine-Staging 9.2.2., but there seems no improvement on Bluetooth support for this specific app. Every other indoor training app is working now for me on Arch Linux. Bit sad, because I really love SYSTM, especially Mike Cottys “On Location” rides and the Sufferfest content.
Wine 10 Staging got me a step further, for the first time now I get an error, specifically pointing to the BT issue: WindowsBtle.exe is being ended with a critical error.
