Replacing the strap is at least an annual if not twice-yearly required ritual with my Polar and Wahoo and every other HRM I have used. If I diligently rinse them by immersing the strap in water immediately after every ride, they seem to last longer. Drop-outs, disconnections and obviously errant readings that aren’t due to a failing battery usually are fixed by a new strap. But try the battery first, it’s cheaper.
Yeah, thanks Craig. Battery is always swapped out 1st.
I am very keen to try a new strap rather than buy a new unit as I’ve never done it before. Was considering a polar h9 before reading a strap might sort it.
I tried the tickr as my first ever chest strap hrm and it was my last. As a lady I can’t imagine how women deal with these regularly.
I went with a $50 coospoo upper arm hrm. Loving it.
Previously I had a wrist hrm that I owned for so long I can’t even Remember the brand. I am not a serious user though so YMMV. Just thought I would share.
The tickr is collecting dust somewhere on a drawer
I have a Polar H10 and was starting to get some erratic readings a few months ago, and changing the battery did not fix anything, but I also read about the problem often being with the strap itself.
I did some more-thorough-cleaning-than-usual of the strap, which seemed to resolve the issue, and since then have been more diligent about completely rinsing and drying the strap after each use, which seems to have prevented the problem recurring for now.
