I feel like we should have learned this here first from the company. @Michael_Robertson posted this in the Sufferlandria Facebook group.
Hey all, I saw this in the Davis Phinney Foundation newsletter today. Looks like 2026 will be the swan-song of The Tour of Sufferlandria/The Wahooligan Tour…
"Team DPF Event Calendar 2026
Registration and full calendar coming soon!
Tour de Palm Springs – Palm Springs, CA - Feb 7 The Tour, a Farewell to Sufferlandrian and Wahooligan tours – Virtual, Worldwide - Early March
Tour de Victory – Boulder, CO – May 16

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic – Durango, CO – May 22-24
Copper Triangle – Copper Mountain, CO – Aug 1
Pedal in Place – St Louis, MO – Sept 1
Pickleball for Parkinson’s - Louisville, CO – TBA"
It’s not as if it would take the company a whole lot of effort to post up 7 days worth of rides between 2 dates. It’s not like old days with the big route reveals and associated shenanigans!
Maybe one of our glorious Knights could organise an alt-Suf tour anyway and a minion somewhere in the mines could knock up a badge (à la SUFday style)
A donation can also be made to the DPF or any other organisation of choice.
Sheesh… way to go Wahoo. I imagine there’s a flogging station waiting somewhere with a huge W on it. I wonder what it could stand for?
We wanted to jump in here because we know many of you saw the Davis Phinney Foundation newsletter, and we want to give clarity directly from our side.
First, a heartfelt thank you for the passion, humour, and commitment you continue to bring to the Tour each year. It’s a huge part of what makes this community unique, and we don’t take that for granted.
Over the past several months, we’ve taken a close look at what it takes to run the Tour well and continue supporting the Davis Phinney Foundation in a meaningful way. In that process, we realized we wouldn’t be able to evolve the Tour this year in the thoughtful way it deserves. So we’ve chosen to run the 2026 Tour in its classic format one final time with the Davis Phinney Foundation, to honour its legacy and give it the celebration it deserves.
What happens beyond 2026 is something that we want to take time to get right. The spirit of Sufferlandria matters and we don’t want to force the next chapter before we have the resources and clarity to do it justice. Going forward, the February monthly challenge will honour Sufferlandria — a chance to embrace the SUF spirit, push your limits, and continue supporting the Davis Phinney Foundation, a partnership that remains deeply meaningful to us.
Thank you again for everything you’ve put into the Tour over the years. We’re grateful for this community, and we’re committed to honouring what it stands for.
Thank you for the update regarding the 2026 Tour. I’m both glad that Wahoo Fitness has made a conscious decision to have one last ‘hurrah’ celebrating the Tour’s long run and a little sad to see it come to its conclusion.
A couple of years ago I pulled back the curtain to see that Wahoo Fitness, Chip and several of the company investors have made huge contributions to the Davis Phinney Foundation and Parkinson’s research and treatment (including some cutting edge research and technology development).
If I can be as bold to make a couple of ‘route’ suggestions for the upcoming Tour:
Angels- The Sufferlandrian community has lost members throughout its history. The latest being Sir Spencer Roberts. It might be a bit of work but perhaps a dedication ride to celebrate the life and legacy of those we have lost.
Cash Register- Several years ago I asked Sir David to add this to the mix as it is THE ultimate Davis Phinney workout. The North Boulder Park criterium was a staple of the Red Zinger and Coor Classic stage races. It was usually the last stage before the GC was handed out (making it a real party). I would LOVE to see this as the final stage of the final Tour out of respect for Davis and all he has done.
In keeping with the Sufferfest theme, I know that Wahoo Fitness likes to showcase other categories (Pro Ride, On Location, A Week With, etc). I would love to see the precursor Sufferfest videos (Team Scream, The Way Out) for those categories used during the Tour.
