Hi all, my Bikeshift has started making a loud tick/click sound on the left pedal downstroke. It doesn’t matter what cadence I’m pedalling it’s continues to click. Any advice on how to fix this as it’s pretty darn annoying as I find myself using super low cadence (50) to just lessen the frequency of the annoying sound.
I have KICKR Bike V1, so I’m not sure what the crankset is like on the shift, but I would assume it needs to be checked for tightness every so often. The V1 has a maintenance guideline, and my original crankset DID get loose and need to be tightened and retorqued to specs very early on. It has remained tight and not gotten loose since then, (after the original left crank arm was replaced because it had warped bolts and potentially defective crank holes, so they sent new bolts and crank arm; no issues since then, and it stays tight.)
But you do need to check that because if the crankset is getting loose at all, a clicking sound would be expected as a first sign. You might not feel the movement until it gets more loose and pronounced.
Check for manual online for the Shift and stay on top of that, even if it means getting a torque wrench for the appropriate setting (if you don’t already have one.) If you leave that issue too long, it can damage your parts, but mild clicking is likely just an early warning.
Hi there, yes have checked that all bolts are at least right, right crank are tight to the point I can’t loosen them to check.
Unfortunately for the BikeShift there doesn’t appear to be a maintenance manual, only the assembly manual which is largely for legs bars and saddle.
I’m not a heavy guy or have huge power. Cleaned after every use and under 1yr old.
If you haven’t already, you really need to contact Support directly. While they do check in on the forums from time to time, the best way to ensure your particular issue is addressed is to reach out directly:
Hi, yes I have, I am just awaiting a response.
Very good. It’s a long weekend in the US. Hopefully they get back to you soon. If you remember, check back in here and let us know how you make out.
Good luck!
While you are waiting for support…can you check if it is the pedal making the clicking noise? See if you can you put a different set of pedals on and see if the noise continues?
Yes I can confirm it’s not the pedals. It sounds like a plastic part in/around the crank.
