China enters the WorldTour?

So looks like China is officially/legally entering the WorldTour for the first time.

I mean, it’s only Astana, but still…

:smirk:

time will tell.

OK, was going to make a joke about @#$% Chinese frames and components illegally making their way into pro cycling, a la British Continental squad Saint Piran this past season, but came across this article…the images are insane.

A lot of Western branded bikes are actually made in China, Sir…
And not all Chinese made products are bad in quality or inferior in every the way.

As a person coming from Asia, I don’t get why Asian countries are often mocked for all sorts of things…

There are many people whose impression of foreign products is misinformed by the “bargains” that they’ve purchased.

Apple’s products are made in China. That should speak to their ability to produce high quality products.

You get what you pay for.

Agree with you Sir Brian, and just to add a little bit more, a lot of things are made in China or even in India.

Take for example the Milwaukee or DeWalt tools which are clearly Western brands, their products are mostly made in China if not 90%.

So I don’t get it, why all the flak on Chinese (and by extension other foreign) made products?

It’s not to say I condone buying and using imitation or clearly knockoffs because there are significant risks to it, what I am trying to say is that, Chinese made goods have come a long way and its quality have been much better than it used to be.

Just because it’s cheaper than and lesser known, it doesn’t mean it’s bad and likewise, just because it’s more expensive and branded, it doesn’t mean it’s superior. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

Like you said Sir, you get what you pay for. If one pays peanuts, expect to get peanuts not cashew nuts or pistachios or whatever other nuts.

Oh I realize that, Sir @DarrenWCKam. Wasn’t trying to paint with a broad brush, and meant no offense. The “joke” was specifically about the teams that got in trouble for sneaking non UCI-approved, Chinese components and frames into the peloton to save a few $$$.

Apologies.

I’m with @CPT_A . We have a major issue here with a company that is importing inferior quality Chinese made goods. I don’t mind high quality goods no matter where they are made. Low quality goods don’t excite me whether they are domestic or foreign made.
