I did the pre-order on a set of Gen 3 Cyclic lights back in August when they were promising shipping in September. Shipping has now slipped twice and they are saying November for the back light and January for the front. It is feeling more like a Kickstarter than an order from a shop.
Does anyone know how trustworthy Cyclic is as a company? They look good, but if there is a chance I’m not going to get the lights and the company is going to disappear with my cash I’d rather ask for a refund now and get a different set of lights especially as this is the time of year that I really need good lights.
They’ve been around for a while. I got the original Fly, when they were (indeed) more like a Kickstarter thing. They’ve kept doing that for some reason. Not officially, but I’ve seen it mentioned a couple of times by others.
These delays might well be caused by Covid-19 related delivery issues - Hammerhead (Karoo 2) is experiencing the same thing.
You’ll eventually get your lights, but if you don’t want to wait, cancel and go for something else. I switched to Garmin and GoPro after my first set of Cycliq lights/cameras.
I got a mail to say the Fly 6 is now shipping, but based on when they were ordered so it will be spread over 3 to 4 weeks so I might get it for Christmas.
The good reputation is the only reason is the only reason I stuck with it, otherwise I’d have been asking for a refund a long time ago.
I’ve not seen the old ones so just hoping the new version is worth the wait as I’ve pretty much moved indoors for the winter now so won’t be using them much till next season.
The new FLY6 GEN3 is ok, I have no issues with it so far but there have been many reports of water ingress and then unit failure. They are notoriously slow in responding via CS and still way understaffed to provide timely deliveries. There was a big shift in who runs the company a couple months back, so we shall see if anything improves.
Both lights finally showed up and they’ve been out on a couple of rides. They seem to be working OK, but I’ve not put them through any big sessions yet.
Customer service has been very slow, I got a note to say they were dispatching the parcel and I’d get a tracking number, I didn’t so mailed them, the parcel then arrived, then I got the number and customer services never replied.
It is a shame, as I want them to be really good and to work, but I am worried that if anything goes wrong it will be a fight to get them replace, not deliberately, just out of slowness.
It was being ran off the road by a cement truck that had me get the cameras so I’ll definitely be reporting things. I’m not letting someone get away with that again.
I’ve got the 12 and 6. The footage from the 6 was crucial in tracking down a truck driver that ran me over three years ago. Honestly every bike should have these.
The support is a bit hit and miss, the app is crap. But the recording is good and the light is good.
I’ve just upgraded my old ones because my 5 year old batteries in my original ones are finally flaking out (I do 6-7 hour rides to put it in context and need it to lay that long).
Honestly - please buy them. Australian drivers are just too… Crap. And our legal system makes it really hard to get justice unless you literally have a video of a truck running you over.
Yeah only my new 12 ce has arrived. 6 is in the mail. Promise.and it’s stopped talking to the app. But I’ve verified that it’s still recording. So tbh I don’t really care.
nope, while they say they are waterproof you will find that anything more than a light showers the units will get water in and die. Cycliq will then try and tell you that a unit that is less than 6 months old is is not covered by warranty because of wear and tear on charging points.
What’s worse the unit was the second Fly 12 I had, and it was a warranty replacement for the same problem.
Their standard practice is to tell you the problem rests with you and they will offer to sell you a replacement with a small discount.
