While watching the replay of Stage 8 of the Tour de France Femme, they showed an interview with the then current race leader, K.Le Court Pienaar before the start of the stage. During the interview they asked her about the upcoming Col de la Madeleine climb and she said “We know it’s going to be a Sufferfest.”

Yes I also loved that! I have been waiting for Pauline Ferrand Prevot to take the tdf since I had the pleasure of watching her clinical Olympic MTB gold in Paris. Blew me away and as soon as they said she wanted to move to Road, and win the tdf I thought, man no problem for this woman so long as she didn’t crash. What a great story 
I Remember watching that mtb race thinking the footage would be perfect in elements of style!

The way she attacked on Stage 9 to win the Stage was priceless. She let everyone else try attack after attack and she shut them all down then she caught them all looking at each other and said “ok, my turn. Watch this.” The rest is history.

Wish I could have watched the full stages. Sadly only had time to watch long highlights this year.
I thought of Annemiek Van Vleuten on the super planche des belles files 2022. Two different races, different years, two top of their game athletes, but I couldn’t help but think Ferrand Prevot’s breathing control is amazing.
Also, boy do I love watching these Sufferfest climbs to end a TDF!
