Dear Wahoo, please go back to your roots (my thoughts on the Ace launch)

Clearly you aren’t the target audience for ACE.

For me, ACE could be even bigger and I’d be fine with that. I would actually mount my smartphone if it integrated as well with my sensors and gave me decent battery life AND had buttons.

I LOVE that it has buttons and a touch screen. One of the reasons I bought an Edge 530 was that it had buttons and I specifically did NOT want touch screen only. I went all in with wahoo on ROAM v2 and I was tired of Garmin’s clunky interface and pretty regular glitching after updates. Sold the Garmin.

The map on ACE and navigating with the touchscreen is the bomb!

So…the Roam3?

Absolutely. IMO, no device that can be bought with buttons should be offered as a touch-screen device WITHOUT ALSO providing the same buttons.
My EDGE 840 with buttons is a game changer in that regard. Touch screens can be great, but they just don’t always work, like when covered in rain drops, and they also don’t work with most kinds of gloves, especially thick winter gloves. Every cold season, I’m thankful for those buttons all over again on the EDGE, but in warm weather, I wear no gloves and just use the touch screen at will.
