First of all, I’m really happy with my new Wahoo Ace. The larger screen, the updated interface, and the combination of touchscreen and buttons are absolutely great.
That said, there are a few improvements I’d love to see, random, not in order:
- The bell doesn’t work consistently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and it doesn’t work on the map.
- The 2 km elevation profile view has too large a scale, making it hard to see climbs and descents clearly.
- The gradient percentage data field is consistently delayed. I only see the steep section once I’ve already passed it.
- Syncing routes without Wi-Fi simply doesn’t work.
- Sending a route to the device via the app fails if the modified route has the same name. On my last ride, I stood by the roadside for half an hour trying to get it to work. I ended up renaming the route in Strava (in the browser of my phone) exporting it as a GPX file, and reimporting it into the app – only then did it work.
- The auto-pause function takes a few seconds to kick in. When I start riding again, it resumes immediately. I’d love to have a setting in the app to adjust the sensitivity of this feature.
- The music page is great, but the volume steps are too big. It’s often either too loud or too quiet, so I still end up grabbing my phone.
- I’d like the screen to be even brighter – even if that comes at the cost of battery life. In some situations, it’s just hard to read.
- I miss the option to add (coffee) stops to a route.
- I’d really like to organize my routes better, with folders or labels. I have a bunch of local routes, and others for an upcoming cycling trip. Labels or folders would help me keep them neatly separated.
- In the Dutch version of the app and website, there are several fields where the Dutch text doesn’t fit properly. This looks sloppy and unpolished.
Does anyone have anything to add or disagree with my feedback?
