Have we been overtaken by bots?

It sure seems to me like a disproportionate number of the latest posts have been made by brand new users that exhibit ChatGPT or other AI behaviour in terms of either or all of: writing style, response style, and content.

“Coincidentally”, I am also getting an inordinate amount of “likes” from users who have just joined (or have very recently joined) and for posts or comments in threads that are far from recent with some being several years old. Eg. I’ll check my notifications and see what the “robo liked 12 of your posts”,

Maybe The Company needs a bot of their own to sweep the forum and keep it human. :goat:

I don’t know if it’s bots all the way down. Being charitable, perhaps people who aren’t comfortable writing in English are using AI to help.

Perhaps. But why the multiple likes on old posts.

Here’s a great example. This user joined 40 minutes ago and has already liked 47 of my posts in 27 minutes of reading.

Also liked a lot of my comments too

I’m really glad you raised this @Glen.Coutts and I have also had likes to old posts and seen what you described. I would hate it if when I come here I have to navigate round the bots. Do you know if the Wahoo team can do anything? Thanks for starting this thread, I’m really interested in what can be done?

The posts asking for recommendations have really caught my eye for a number of reasons.

I’ve had an unusual number of likes as well.

I think we should start naming names. There’s at least one handle that made me think “who picks a name like that” but then thought better of saying anything b/c my handle isn’t exactly lovable either.

@sc235813 if you are thinking of the same one as me I think Wahoo X should be very worried

Thank you for pointing this out, Sir Glen, though honestly I’m not expecting Wahoo to do anything as I’m so cynical I actually wondered at one point if they or some of them might be company sponsored in order to train internal AI systems.

I’ve thought the same thing

Edit: I should add, I still think it.

Sir Rupert’s on holiday right now, so it might be a bit before he gets to it. Perhaps Helga and/or others may be of some assistance, but I’ve noticed the bot-like behavior on many forums, including some that are supposed to be closed/private.

Hey Sir Dale, it’s really just another pain point for me. Nothing must dull the suffering :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hardly surprising that everyone “loves “ all your posts Sir Glenn.

I’m just catching up. Have had some time off for surgery and desperate to start Suffering again but know I need to wait another 4-5 weeks really.
