Hi, I'm Helga đź‘‹

Greetings Wahooligans and Sufferlandrians,

Over the past few days, a team of people no different from yourselves, have been wracking their brains to think about how to best support the Wahoo Forum. Our intent with the recent change of limiting topic creation to a single admin was to create a more focused dialogue around specific topics that the admin could actually manage as opposed to the current state of affairs where we are leaving many comments and questions unanswered and even unread! The community quickly challenged this change. Heard.

So the team discussed how we might create an open forum where Wahooligans, Sufferlandrians and general athletes alike can engage with each other as a community while also feeling supported by Wahoo. Here’s what we came up with:

  1. We’re going to open the Forum back up for topic creation
  2. We’re introducing a new site moderator: Dame Helga

We know what you’re thinking… I’ll bet Helga is just a corporate suit meant to pacify the rowdy Sufferlandrians. First, at Wahoo, there are no SUITS! We are Wahooligans and Sufferlandrians just like you.. we ride bikes, we run, we love doing things that push us to and sometimes past our limits. Second, we’re not looking to pacify anyone. We want to engage with people who are as passionate as we are about what we do so we want to hear from you… we also want our dialogue to be authentic yet respectful.

So who IS Helga? Well.. it’s me! I’m a Wahooligan with the heart of a Sufferlandrian. My Athlete Profile is Attacker. My favorite SUF session is Half is Easy. My favorite piece of hardware is the ELEMNT ROAM 3. My job is to keep an eye on the forum and see where I need to come in and support. I’m also very much in the know and will be able to share some insider info from time to time. Additionally, I’m also keen to get feedback on new releases, new devices, software updates, new workout content and Wahoo’s performance analytics.

You might actually recognize me because my likeness was used in the design of the person on the KICKR who appears on ELEMNT loading screens and pops up in all sorts of places across our apps!

I’m supported by a small group of Wahooligans and Sufferlandrians that will help me answer your questions, provide information, and gather insights about how the team is doing.

One thing to know about me: Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. If there are community members that behave in the forum in ways that don’t align with our values, I have the full support of the team (including the laser goats), and hopefully you as the community, to remove members as I see fit.

Most importantly, I’m happy to be here and looking forward to interacting with you all

More than you…IWBMATTKYT… WAHOO!

have you suffered today?

now this sounds a lot better, I really appreciate you (and your colleagues I suppose) have listened to us, a bunch of Sufferlandrians who not only want the best for their beloved Nation, but also for everyone else out here. So let’s return to all the support, the banter, and the knowledge exchange and whatever else that has always made this forum a very special place for everyone not Couchlandrian. thanks for that.

HONOUR GLORY VICTORY!

Welcome, Dame Helga!

And this is fantastic news. I second Dame @IsiSchneider_KoS’s sentiments.

We’re happy to have you here and for the change back to an open forum.

Hello and a warm welcome @Helga ,

thank you for introducing yourself and your open words.

I would really appreciate if you would finally stop referring to us with the inappropriate term “hooligan”. I know it has a different connotation in the US than in Europe. Here in Europe, hooligans are brutal thugs who will stop at nothing, not even murder. As a relative of a hooligan victim, your use of this word is simply unbearable.

I find wahooligan to be distinctive enough from hooligan that everyone should be able to live with it. Speaking as a European here.

Let’s stick to the warm welcome for Dame Helga. Don’t make her turn this car back around.

I, for one, welcome our new Wahoo overlord.

Well hello there! It’s very nice to meet you, @Helga Dame Helga! Nothing like another Kos officially in the building. I love that little loading symbol. No wonder you seemed so familiar. :joy:

Nice to see Wahoo taking positive action at its forum though unfortunate the interim steps rather didn’t go over very well… No forum can do well without active participation and moderation so I’m hopeful this will get things rolling for all in a manageable way. I’m looking forward to seeing how Systm gets a handle on reviving and keeping going the Sufferfest content, as a rowdy Sufferlandrian myself.

Have you suffered today?

And thank you for joining and to you and your colleagues for listening and re-opening posting. I don’t post particularly often here, but it’s a friendly place and it’s good that comment remains welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Welcome, Dame Helga! Thank Grunter The Company has changed course on keeping the forum an actual forum. I’d all but lost hope there for a bit.

Anyway, do settle in and make yourself uncomfortable. LOVE what you said here:

Less than you,
Sir Glen

I might have been happy to welcome both the change to reopen the forum to new topics as well as to your assignment to moderate, were it not for the way I perceive this comment.

But I cannot in peace of mind do either.

Behaving “in the forum in ways that don’t align with our values” is a pretty broad and unquantifiable brush, and to remove members as you see fit sounds more than heavy-handed, and in my opinion not much unlike the tone the initial notice of the end of topic creation freedom was made.

My observations are that WAHOO has clearly different values than MANY on this forum when it comes to the very name Wahooligan that is hurtful to many and which has been clearly stated many times over on this forum. I’m not from the culture in which that extreme behavior has occurred so often, but I do understand how wrongly the word turns for those who are. For that reason, I have always felt and stated that Wahoo ought to have sought a more reasoned choice.

I have also had my own comments deleted from the forum not long after I joined it, without so much as an explanation of why. I know my heart and I know my comments were well within reasonable limits of respectful discussion, but I also know how political correctness works to stifle and silence those of a different opinion.

I’ve enjoyed the forum, learned much from many, valued the free exchange and banter, and greatly enjoyed the SYSTM app, and especially the unremastered Sufferfest workouts the entire time I subscribed to it, and am confident I would if I chose to resubscribe again. I LOVE my KICKR BIKE and hope it endures and enables my indoor riding enjoyment for years and years to come. I don’t think it has an equal in the entire range of competitor offerings, and I have long wished that WAHOO realized and promoted more convincingly the potential of this unique indoor bike.

But I have reached the conclusion that the direction I see here isn’t where I’m going and I don’t care to use my time reading and contributing any longer. I’ll save you the bother of evaluating my behavior in the event that it might not match up to whatever unstated values you measure things by.

I’ll say a cheerful “God be with ye” to all.
