KICKR Roller resistance is too high

I just finished setting up a brand new KICKR Roller and the resistance is way too high. I have a Quark chain ring power meter and synced it at first using the Wahoo app. Then I saw that this could be a problem, so I told the app to forget the Quarq. I powered off and restarted the Roller and also the Wahoo App.

The power reading on Zwift says 111 watts and I know what 111 watts feels like and this is very very much more than that. I am in my easiest pedaling gear combination and can hardly pedal.

I also have have a KICKR Core and have no issues with it. Power is fine

Please help.

Couple of thoughts spring to mind….

What was the problem you thought would happen if you used the Quarq ? Seems like the obvious move is to just use that, if the trainer guess is waaay off..

What does your (unconnected) Quarq say the power is at that 111W ? Is there a consistent offset ?

Does increasing (or even decreasing) the tyre pressure brings things more in-line with your PM ?

Ray Maker mentioned in his review of the firmware update that power was a bit more off at lower powers…

During each set, it was clear that lower power values were a challenge, while higher power values were vaguely in the ballpark.

..maybe something you’re experiencing, not sure there’s anything specific to counter that low-end discrepancy.

What might be useful in future is some sort of calibration or alignment run for the ROLLR , so you could key the trainer to a known set of power values e.g. from your PM, even a singular point might help.. or a simple offset value as with some trainers or power match adjustments.

In the meantime, perhaps switching back to the Quarq might be best ?…

Good luck, let us know how you’re getting on
