Kickr Roller Resistance

I just unpacked this and set it up. I was so excited for my first ride. I hopped on and tried pedaling, and I could hardly get the wheel to spin even in passive mode. When plugged in, and I go into controls and adjust the resistance up or down, it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Maybe @Helga or @Rupert can help you with this.

I assume you’ve gone thru all the steps on the setup guide. But if you haven’t, here’s the link to the info online: https://support.wahoofitness.com/hc/en-us/sections/4422390232466-KICKR-ROLLR

I don’t have a Rollr myself, so I can’t help with specifics. You can also submit a help request using that link as well. Wahoo will help you get it working properly.

The Roller looks amazing, so I’m a bit jealous and hope you get it set up and riding properly, soon!

We’ve passed this on and someone from our customer service team should be in touch with you soon.

Sorry you’re having problems and looking forward to resolving it for you soon.

I received my Rollr in early December 2025. I have the same issue with the resistance. I’ve updated the firmware. Now, I can handle the resistance drag, using my lower gears, but this is messed up. The system “thinks” it’s O% range is ZERO % resistance. So, I kick it with good effort and it’s showing ridiculous power numbers-like I’m a rodent in a hamster wheel. I can get to 10/12 MPH (100p) with good effort. lol. My local bike store has a unit it uses for configs. They don’t have it plugged in. But I check it’s resistance by hand, or foot, as it were, but it was inconclusive. I’m going to take me power/and bike over there and see if they let me test that one, just for comparison. I’m not a trusting type, and to me, this seems messed up. I got mine from Amazon. Given the other complaints I’ve seen, I’m wondering if there’s a lemmon production going around? Nobody would design it this way. It’s way off. Thanks for listening.

I’m having this exact same problem. I just received my kickr rollr. Mine is basically totally locked up. Easiest gears and it can barely spin. The “power meter” reads at least 100 watts lower than what it should. Please let me know what happens.

It’s as if the Rollr came out of the box with the flywheel set on an incredibly high resistance and it can’t or wont change out of it. Passive mode or otherwise its hard to even spin up.

When you have a moment please contact our customer service, the power being off by 100 watts would be my concern, but they will be able to assist with better troubleshooting.

If you want to check the link below to ROLLR setup in the meantime, this might help answer any proper setup questions to ensure there is no issue with set up.

Hi. Did anyone manage to get this issue fixed.

I purchased from Amazon Uk in December and having same issues

So I do almost all of my ROLLR rides in a very low gear so I can get it rolling.

The only time that I get into the big ring is for 10 second sprints when I’m not in erg mode.

If you start off in the big ring it’s pretty tough. Also

  1. make sure your tire pressure at the upper end of what you consider reasonable.
  2. When setting the length of the unit, I have it so the tire is sitting on the front roller and barely touching the rear roller with me off the bike. This makes sure I’m loading both rollers (and reducing the deflection in the tires, which makes it less difficult to pedal)
