So I accidentally bumped into THE most terrifying person I have EVER met. But it turns out she is the woman behind that great man Gunter von Agony!
We had a bit of a chat about the Tour and fundraising for Davis Phinney and she has VERY kindly offered, not one, not two but THREE bespoke designed SUF jerseys to support the fundraising efforts.
This is how it’ll work.
For every $10 you donate to her fundraising page, she will give you a ticket into the prize draw to win one of these jerseys.
The draw will be done at the conclusion of the stage 7 window.
You will be in the draw to win one of these three jerseys. They are all Cuore, size Medium, mens/unisex. These are the only jerseys of their kind in existance.
Donations to be made to Gertrude von Agony’s page here:
Gertrude is very aware of how intimidating she is so asked me to post this so she doesn’t scare anyone away. She practically OOOOOOOOOZES with the reek of dead painsuckers and shredded chamois.
Oh wow, I had always that that GvA(Jr) was of eastern european descent but the profile photo for GvA(Sr) proves that there’s a very strong British connection here.
So cool that GvA(Sr) not only dominated UK cycling for years but also that she gave us SUF as the most amazing legacy.
I waited until I reached my personal fundraising goal before I threw in here. That happened late last night. Should I be lucky enough to be drawn for a KOS jersey, I’d wait until I was actually a KOS to collect it.
I may have done a handful more as I bought all the videos way back in the day. We can call myself a long-time admirer but quite a short-time follower. In years past, riding the trainer was just something I couldn’t bring myself to do… I either rode outdoors, or, as I like to call it, “I fell off my bike”. Historically, I have cycled about 1 out of every 3 years through the winter (and that was outdoors), and others taken a “winter break” (too long a few times). Then I do stupid stuff like a Couch to Century to kick off the riding season, see https://www.strava.com/activities/1424336874 - oh, that was a miserable day!
Last July, during the Le Tour sale, I popped for the KICKR Bike (v1), this being my third attempt at a smart trainer. I told myself that spending that kind of money would force me to ride indoors through the winter. I didn’t use it until after Thanksgiving (that was a bad start to my justification), but, now I’m sitting at 1,750 miles logged on it since November 29th. Yeah!
Back to a KOS attempt, likely next winter season, or if have some bad stretch of weather, I might just choose to have a very bad weekend.
On another note, the KICKR Bike rocks. I actually like ERG mode now. Before, all I did was curse it and pop back out to Level mode.
