Paired HR & SPD sensors not working with HEADWIND + KICKR CORE V2

I have purchased a used Kickr Headwind and paired it to my Kickr Core 2:

Firmware:
Headwind 2.0.43
Kickr Core 3.5.37

The two blue lights (HR + SPD) light up and after a few seconds they are off again.

The fan control using the Kickr Core Sensors won’t work at all. Why ?

I removed the HEADWIND from the app and added it again. No I’m facing a diffenernt picture: Only the power sensor of my KICKR CORE is detected and the speed sensor not.
The blue SPD light is blinking and the fan starts spinning when pedaling, but stops after a while and starts again and so on.
Searching for the KICKR speed sensor fails.

I also have the thing with the lights cutting out but it still just works for me.

Curious why you’re doing speed and power together from the same trainer? Won’t the two data streams almost always move up and down in unison?

There are two ideas behind this multi sensor thing:

  1. To use two different sensors that can lag each other - one device measurement (power, speed, treadmill pace) and one body measurement (HR, core temp).
  2. To broaden the sensors you can have paired if you’re moving the fan back and forth, like between a trainer and a treadmill.

If you pair say power and HR and then go do sprint intervals:

  1. You’ll get the fan to spike on at the start of an interval, before your HR starts going up. This is particularly good for people like me who have slow HR response due to age or medications.
  2. You’ll still have the fan going after the interval ends and power drops but your HR is still elevated.

That’s a feature of firmware 2.0.43 called adaptive cooling.

As written in the link - adaptive cooling is where Power and HR are paired (as Sir Richie explained). Not sure of any benefit of pairing speed and power.

Exactly… pair speed and HR if you have a dumb trainer, power and HR if you have a smart trainer.

Pairing speed and power won’t get you anything since they will move in lockstep.
