Protestors ruining the Vuelta

I’m sick of you protestors ruining the Vuelta. Look, I get it. The world is in utter turmoil right now and you have beliefs that you want to stand up for and be heard and I respect that but these riders in the Vuelta are doing nothing but following their passion and doing their job. They’ve done absolutely nothing to you so just stop it already.

I respectfully disagree. This is one of the few ways left for people who feel the need to draw attention to an issue of life or death. They are not protesting against the riders, but the team owners (horrible in all sports) and the race organizers (ASO) and sport governors (UCI) who won’t listen to any other method. If the protestors endanger riders, they are stupid and criminal, but at least today (Sep 9), that wasn’t the case

As stated, I don’t have an issue with protesters/protesting in general as it is there right and as long as it done peacefully but blocking finish lines of a bike race, jumping out of trees causing wrecks, stretching a banner across the road stopping TTT’s and cutting trees down across the road while the riders/racers are on course is NOT peaceful and respectful.

Do tell please.

Also, please explain just how protesting a bike race is going to change any of the chaos, turmoil and humanitarian crisis that is taking place around the world?

Did you guys notice, that the Palestinian flag contains a flamme rouge?

I thought I saw that.

See, this is my issue with the protestors. The organizers had to reduce the length of the ITT for safety reasons because the protestors publicly announced they they WOULD interfere/impede with the ITT and the riders because of the participation of the Israel Premier Tech team. The riders of the IPT team nor the riders of any of the other participating teams have absolutely NOTHING to due with the chaos and humanitarian crisis that the leadership/military of Israel are causing. ZILCH. ZERO. NADA.

Do I agree with the chaos and humanitarian crisis taking place across the world? Absolutely not! Do the protestors have a right to protest? Peacefully, Yes!, but potentially causing physical harm to those who have absolutely nothing to do with what is taking place and who are just chasing their passion and doing their job is just F!ing wrong and protesting a bike race is not going to change a thing.

I agree. And what about the teams sponsered by the Emirates, Bahrain, Saudia Arabia. Countries indirectly involved with supporting terror and having different approach on human rights.

Again, I DO NOT AGREE with any of the chaos and humanitarian crises that is taking place around the world but again, this isn’t going to change any of the chaos and humanitarian crises that is taking place around the world….

Stage 21 of the Vuelta 2025 had to be stopped/cancelled because of the protestors today. These people should be ashamed of themselves. SMDH!

That is what freedom looks like. Are protests allowed where you live?

These are not normal times (I hope). Protest against a genocide and the representation of the nation responsible for that genocide is an important thing to do

How many people’s lives are currently being ‘ruined’ in Gaza with the complicity of many other countries?

Protest is supposed to cause inconvenience, at the very least. ‘Whataboutism’ is just another way of saying ‘I don’t care’

@JGreengrass As I have stated previously, I do not have an issue with people protesting….peacefully….but putting people, athletes in harms way is not peaceful protesting.

With that being said, apparently you are ok with innocent people including fellow cyclists being physically harmed by protestors.

I am in total agreement that what is taking place in Gaza, the Ukraine, etc is absolutely wrong but protesters against such atrocities who are putting innocent people in harms way is just as wrong.

^^^^It saddens me that you are ok with innocent people being harmed by protestors including fellow cyclists.

Oh, and I NEVER said that I did not care.

Just not enough to do anything other than complain about the interruption of a bike race?

LOL! :joy: I’m plenty busy. You have a most wonderful day @JoolsBurke !

I think this thread has served its purpose, and in the words of the immortal GvAbi Carver… and now you can move back into your day.

“Hmmm, how do I prove I really do care about an ongoing genocide… I know…”
