Sort of bullied into this, but given I already had a spreadsheet, it’s more like I just had to lay my hand down and show you what I got.
Goal 1: Become a Knight
Goal 2: Keep going until I hit 200 miles
Goal 3: If I can figure it out, keep going until I hit a virtual Everest on Zwift Alpe du Huez. I think this means connecting to both, but only Wahoo controls the bike watts…
If I do 18.5mph for an hour, I do about 15.5mph for 3 hours, I think I can do 13mph for 15 hours. I have a few months to get faster so I can tip over the 200 mile mark in the 15 hours.
it’s not bullying . We tough love you and know what you’re capable of, even if you didn’t.
Also: WOW!!! I LOVE your goals!! They are LOFTY (e.g. nutz!!)
For clarity, are you suggesting you plan to do ALL of those videos back-back-back to achieve goals 1-3 all in a single event?
If so, may GvA be with you .
That said, I know a thing or 2 about virtual Everesting and depending on what you’re after, you might not be able to do both a Knighthood AND a virtual Everesting concurrently.
That is, if you are interested in following the rules of virtual Everesting as laid out by Hells500, the keepers of the cloud, the rules do not allow ERG mode to be used and if your hill choice is Alpe du Zwift, they also have rules on trainer type. If you are not interested in the rules of Hells500 and the Hall of Fame for virtual Everesting, you can use ERG mode and once you reach 8848 metres of gain, Zwift will award you their virtual Everesting badge. I say this only to warn you so you don’t find out after the fact as others have.
Getting 200 miles is also certainly doable in a virtual Everesting, as for doing that on Alpe du Zwift, a vEverest will get you about 210 kilometres, leaving you another 110 km to reach your distance goal.
Feel free to DM me if you want to chat further on this.
Not concerned about it being a legitimate virtual Everest.
I’ll just see if I can click off the vertical gain and get the badge. If I decide I want to do it for real, I’ll follow the rules and do it again specifically. I have a few friends who have done it…
I have run SYSTM and Zwift concurrently many times and it’s pretty straightforward to have SYSTM control the trainer while Zwift just reports power. You’ll just have to remember to do a U-turn at the bottom, so you can climb back up. A lot of people also U-turn at the top to shave off the flat loop there, but if you’re going for a distance goal you could probably just keep going.
No matter how you look at it Martin, those are HUGE goals! I can’t wait until Aug 11. I’ve already marked my Calendar so I can heckle…jeer…laugh…ermmm…support you in some way!
I did over 200 miles (204.97 completely flat miles according to SYSTM) in my second KOS attempt. With a few swaps and additions I’m sure you could ride all the longest SUF videos and make it even longer. Maybe even turn it into a double knighthood!
The Hunted
ISLAGIATT
Violator
The Downward Spiral
Hell Hath No Fury
Attacker
Who Dares
The Chores
There is No Try
Blender
Cobbler
That won’t also get your 200 miles on AdZ, but will cover more of it than if you do a bunch of shorter videos.
But I love your courage and daring with such awesome goals!
PSA: You’ll need to take GOAT (Edit: as well as The Hunted and Local Hero, which look like they’re being archived for Knights access only) off your list for your Knighthood Quest.
