Thanks. Let me think on this a bit and get back to you.
And we have the official answer. That is a beta feature. I (and I assume @evtee) are on main firmware.
@Glen.Coutts is rocking beta? At least that’s what support claims.
@Glen.Coutts And what workout on SYSTM will you do as punishment?
hehe. I’m about to punish myself with a run/walk. Trying to get back up to a 5k. Queue the jeering crowds of our great nation.
What’s different in the beta? And how do I get in?
I’d tell you but…
I’m probably gonna get “fired” as it is
I know there’s a link on the Wahooligan site:
https://www.wahooligan.com/beta_user_request/new
Whether it does anything
Just produces an error. I asked on the support ticket though, so we’ll see.
Got the same answer from support.
Maybe the new beta user request form is in beta
Good one. Unfortunately they’re not taking on new testers and instead of communicating that on the site, the form just fails.
If I hear of new recruitment efforts I’ll try to remember to let you know.
2 firmware updates later and still no signs of light mode support
Yep, still waiting on this as well. Especially since they won’t take on more beta testers at the moment.
Another big update and yet nothing on the RTL510 front.
However, has anyone of you a RTL515? I recently rode with a friend who owns a 516 (german 515) and since I forgot my 510 in another state I connected to his Radar. And he turned the lights off on his radar via the edge head unit and my wahoo kept getting alerts.
Can anyone confirm this? Like turn off lights on the 515 and see if the roam still gets notifications?
I‘d rather prefer the functionality of what you described from the beta, but since that looks like it’s going to take a while and I could use a second radar anyways a RTL515 could be an option
I have a 515 and I haven’t re-tried lights off
Radar on mode on the latest firmware. This didn’t work for me on the old firmware because it says radar disconnected a few seconds after I turned off the light.
Interesting. The 515 of this friend has its own problems with errors every 5-15min (also on his garmin edge) but on that 2h ride I never got any disconnect message and most of the time he had the lights off (he toggles the light with the DI2 switches)
I think this is key. If you turn off the light with the physical button on the radar then it doesn’t work. But if you can somehow turn it off via a command then the radar would still be on. At least that’s my theory.
