RPM Cadence discontinued?

I recently lost my RPM Cadence sensor on a ride (:man_shrugging:t2:). I went to Wahoo online to order a replacement and found the sensor has been discontinued . I was able to order from Amazon, as my local bike shop didn’t not have any in stock either.

Are there any plans for Wahoo to introduce a new cadence sensor? The new TRACKR HRM doesn’t track cadence (no accelerometer, I assume) and it’s not clear if the new Speed sensor does.

Thanks!

The new speed sensor does not do cadence.

Thanks for the heads up. Glad I ordered the old product.

I’m surprised & a little sad - Wahoo taught me to pay attention to cadence with Sufferfest & SYSTM, now they don’t have a product to track it on outdoor rides.

I would’ve thought their power meter pedals do.

Yeah I heard that since PM’s are becoming more prevalent, standalone cadence sensors aren’t selling as well. Every PM, including the Speedplay Power pedals, does cadence.

I’m definitely with you that working on cadence in the SUF workouts has helped my performance outside.

Ah. I haven’t invested in PM pedals but that makes sense. I also would expect they do cadence.

Very disappointing!

My previous RPM Cadence sensor died and purchased a new one the end of last year. I’m glad I bought a new one because I don’t like the Kickr cadence sensor since it requires pressure on the pedals and won’t register your cadence immediately after finishing intense intervals, and the RPM does a better job reading higher cadences. Plus, I can use it on my bike outside since I don’t have a separate power meter I can use outside.

I found the same thing. I ride multiple bikes (single & tandem), so having a cadence sensor on my shoe is far more practical than pricey pedals for each bike.

Admittedly not quite as easy as having a sensor of attached to your only pair of shoes, but the use-case you describe is exactly what power meter pedals are for. Yes, it’s another thing to add to the pre-ride faff schedule, but it only takes a couple of minutes to move pedals from one bike to another.

Except for those of us who don’t have power pedals. Which are a lot of people.
