I’m using the wahoo app with a stryd pod. I can set stryd as my cadence and power sensor but I don’t have to option to set it as my speed sensor. The app does get speed data (pace/distance) from the stryd but not consistently. It seems to switch to gps when available and stryd when gps is not available.
In practice this gives awful data. Maybe a bit better than gps alone but still really bad
Now I could turn gps off but I want it for the route. Are there any other hidden settings that would give stryd priority for speed data?
When I pair my zwift runpod I can simply select it as the speed source/sensor. But I just don’t get the option with stryd
I thought I may as well update this thread for future interest.
I kinda gave up on wahoo as it doesn’t quite do what I’m after and there’s clearly no interest in this around here atm. But someone may come looking in future
So I’ve been recording my stryd runs with an app called Cadence. It’s not as polished as wahoo but it works… But I’ve been doing more treadmill/zwift running (weather :/) and getting the power metric on those runs is a bit more involved. Basically, I record on zwift and stryd app’s together so I combine them with Gotoes to get the map/pace/hr/etc. from zwift with the power from stryd. Pain in the ar… neck but it works
So what’s this got to do with wahoo? Well I thought I may as well try this on my real world runs. So I record with wahoo in treadmill mode (no gps) and it actually let’s me choose stryd as my speed sensor!? Why doesn’t it let me do this in normal running mode I also record on any other app for gps mapping and combine the two files in gotoes.
So yeah, what a palaver! But I won’t keep this up, I’ll just go back to cadence ‘cos it just works But this does show that the wahoo app does know that stryd is a speed sensor but chooses not to let me select it for normal running… Strange
