My experience this morning with BT.
Not a dumb question there - certainly can.
To me, it feels like its trying to compensate for me not putting the same power output through the entire rotation (I’m probably not the most consistant there…) but I seem to get surges that are well over the required effort, followed by an immediate drop
I’m running through an iPhone 12 mini - haven’t checked what processor its running…
I don’t think I’d find it quite as frustrating except for the fact it was working smoothly up till the transition to the new app. Now I’m trying to work out do I need to buy a new trainer, or ditch the app…
My thought is it is an issue with the firmware. In the TacX user group on FB there are posts about the firmware not working correctly with Zwift. I had a lot of issues with the SUF app and BT before getting the ANT+ dongle. I contacted both the minions and Garmin. Garmin support’s response was, in summary, after waiting several weeks for a response, well it looks like the software is sending the signals correctly to the trainer so it is all good, ticket closed.
Hmmm, I have a spare Flux needing a firmware update so I can test this.
@Stormtrooper I hope one of the ideas from others in the thread help spark a solution for you.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled wahoo app on my PC. Solved all issues I had with ERG wobbles/disfunction. (Tacx flux s on BT) - everything worked fine on suff app previously. Support was slow (and has still not suggested solution)
I am battling this still as well:
Here’s a shot of what it’s doing to my power/resistance with no change in gearing or cadence. Barely noticeable in recovery sections but in interval sections it is very very obvious and I can feel it. I’d say a 20 watt drop in resistance
That’s just the lava snow melting off the peaks.
It’s worse at higher resistance. I personally don’t have a nail bed mattress next to my trainer to cushion my fall if I tried sprint intervals so will stick to ant+ for now. Just aware some on iPads etc won’t have ant+ as an option while this gets resolved.
Hi. Latest Flux 2… trying to hold 300 watts in both erg and slope mode and power repeatedly drops and rises. Please see images. I attempted to maintain 300 watts hence variable cadence as well. Using ipad. Interesting that old sufferfest app had no issues for some.
This was the 4d test…
Same here
Have raised another ticket. As only Tacx Flux is affected, I suspect the issue is a Garmin Firmware one or a change in BT protocol with the Flux relying on an older one. BT was working in SYSTM before…
Are you able to use ANT+ in the meantime?
Nope… although potentially could try wife’s MacBook which I think has ant+?
Worth a shot although ANT is a little slower to respond when intervals are short and sharp. If you’re expecting that little bit of a lag, you’ll find it’s pretty smooth
I logged a ticket and got a canned response about connection issue trouble shooting 2 days later…
Has anyone had any luck with Garmin customer support in troubleshooting this?
Amongst many things I tried I deleted then reinstalled the wahoo app on Pc AND the garmin tacx app on my phone as it would not update to latest firmware 4225 (132). Everything runs smoothly now.
@ut-och-cykla The modern variant of the old ‘turn it off and back on again’ trick.
