Stage 3 of the Wahooligan Tour throws us into the chaos with Fight Club, a session that’s as scrappy and unpredictable as a real race. Expect attacks, counterattacks, and relentless surges as you fight to stay with the leaders and make your own move — all while your fellow Wahooligans are digging just as deep beside you. It’s tough, it’s messy, and it will leave you feeling a little battered, but that shared suffering is what brings this community together. Every surge is another reminder that we’re stronger as a group — riding not just to test ourselves, but to support the Davis Phinney Foundation and everyone living with Parkinson’s.
PRIZE POOL
The Wahooligan Tour prize pool is packed with incredible gear and exclusive swag — our way of celebrating riders who show up and rally their communities for a cause that matters. For every $10 you raise, you earn an additional entry into the prize pool, so every share and every donation boosts your chances to win while driving real impact in support of the Davis Phinney Foundation.
in the second recovery interval, it took me 15 seconds or so to realize that this road is in a Left Hand Traffic country.
In the fourth recovery interval, the white van that almost veers into our bike. I had forgotten how bonkers tha was (the only other near-miss I remember is in one of the Mike Cotty OL videos where he has to yell “Steady!” at an oblivious driver.
I forgot how much I love this workout. As an attacker rider type, it is was right in my wheelhouse and it showed. Now Angels that is on the calendar tomorrow, that might be a different story.
Stage 3 done. Had to get it done first thing, so straight out of bed at 6am, downed some water, ate a banana and a couple of fruit pastilles, followed by nervous pre ride weight loss (if you know what I mean), then straight into the ring. That was a tough start to the day, repeated surges are not my strength, but do like that video.
Feeling laggy and really just wanted to keep reading He Who Fights With Monsters this morning, but my sleep quality is slowly recovering from the late workouts on the weekend.
Fight Club is one which I thoroughly enjoy; intervals are short enough for my strengths, ending each with low cadence work to further allow recovery, and lovely little attacks to keep it interesting. It was doable enough that I turned it up to 110% for the last interval, which should make up for the partially reduced Long Scream on Sunday.
Garmin listed it as a “Base” ride -_- . 74hrs recovery time to…71? Bah. 1318 load to 1501.
Tunes of the morning was my Workout Playlist (mostly Epic fantasy metal)
Fight Club has to be one of my absolutely favourites - I get excited when I see it on the calendar - plays totally to my strengths or perhaps less to my weaknesses. I also love the current version more than the Knights only version.
Trying to figure out riding The Tour and work schedule I took advantage of this years open timing, followed it up immediately with Stage 4 - Angels pretty much destroyed me as always, even more so straight after FC. Not entirely sure how I got through it, but the sense of accomplishment.
@ediblehedge I also did that double today. I felt good starting so I turned up fight club and paid a heavy price. I usually love angels, but after fight club, angels was painful. I had to dial down to 90% for the last interval. I have suffered today.
I did both the current and vintage FC this morning for my first level of Tour shenanigans.
Felt okay at the end of the current FC. But the vintage FC has a longer warm up and higher attack targets.
Vintage FC destroyed me. I didn’t get enough sleep last night either. I tried to take a bit of video of my riding the vintage version and failed. My whole body is tired and sore. I’ve been sleepwalking thru the rest of the day today.
