Yep, same. I’ll pile on with the same message. When I first joined SUF and I saw the Knighthood, I thought - no way! And this was just 2 months after running a marathon. And now I’ve completed the KOS 6 times over. I also told myself I would never complete a HALF marathon, let alone a full, let alone a KOS.
Your Worships (is that the correct collective noun for Knights), I’m grateful for your advice. Thank you. I’ll have a long rest and think about it. Today is definitely not the day to be making decisions.
Just Sir or Dame as per each Knight’s personal preference. Sirs and Dames if addressing us all or just Knights. We also, typically answer to You! You there!
Stage seven done. I usually look forward to GOAT, but doing it after Nine Hammers had me groaning and grinding my teeth as well as my gears. On the other hand , Nine Hammers was gloriously difficult as usual. The soundtrack is my favorite. “Coke Machine” brings Dr. Strangelove to my suffering mind; being from Michigan, the song “we’re hanging on in Michigan”makes me smile, no matter how my legs feel; and the last song, a remake of George Jones “the good ones and the bad ones” is my favorite of all.
I have sat out the last two tours, mostly out of frustration with the wahooifcation of Sufferlandria and the ToS, but felt it necessary to ride this pseudo last tour in memory of the befortimes. I am still unsure of what the overlords mean when they append “in its current form” to the their statement this is the last tour.
The course being completely Sufferfest workouts was a good idea and I am adding two other rides. I am counting last Saturday’s knight ride as my stage one, and am finishing tomorrow with the original Cobbler in order to have 9 stages, like the original ToS. Those who are joining Sir Evan @emacdoug in Kitchen Sink are braver and more strong willed than I. I will save it for national Sufferlandrian day, which should be every year on the anniversary of the announcement that wahoo was annexing Sufferlandria.
I definitely suffered today, maybe more than some, but not as much as the Kitchen Sink riders.
@HughG I waited too many years for my knighthood quest, mostly because indoor rides over 2 hours hurt my rear end. I managed to fix that with a good bike fit and some tweaks to the trainer. I also finally understood the quest to be akin to an outdoor century. Long, but possible if you control your effort. It is a bit longer than an outdoor imperial century timewise, but you can prepare your fuel ahead and you can change kit enough to prevent or minimize saddle soreness. Plus the knights are generous and supportive (ok, and a wee bit wicked). Congratulations on finishing the tour!
I just finished the tour and I’m happy about it. Maybe, delirious from losing too much holy water! I just wanted to note that I get the vibe that my positive feelings about the tour seem to be echoed by many others who are experiencing the same. I think wahoo has a good thing going here. I’ve heard all the negatives/complaints about the platform. But right now, I’m reading about a lot of really amazing people, doing amazing things. And I’m pretty high on Wahoo’s platform. Bring that to your company meeting. And thanks for a well thought out and organized tour.
I’d be curious to learn how many participants earned the tour badge.
Done and dusted…or maybe writhing on the floor! Ditto to Sir Alex @wmalexmann and John @trainingwheels. This Sufferlandrian community warms my heart and encourages me through the pain shakes. Congratulations to you all on a fantabulous Sufferfest. I may need a few days to reenergize before doing Omnium and the Chores.
