Sounds cool, just dates are bad. Exhibition from 14-16th
Yeah, there’s definitely no need to change the name for that specific reason. It wouldn’t be the first tour with rides outside it’s borders. In fact it would be a perfect way to add to the narrative “for stage 2 we venture outside of the borders to take on some Couchlandrian Pros in Norway….”
It’ll be interesting to see if the official route announcement retains the same fun nature as previous years
Well that sux - on the road all that week
I’m glad to have done an actual “Tour of Sufferlandria” (last year was my first) and happy to be part of the Wahooligannanigans (or something) Tour.
Now, who’s gonna make the template for the bibs? Sir @Glen.Coutts, are we looking at you again?
Well here we go once more
A crazy week of indoor riding coming up. Though I’ve realised the dates may not work but that’s hopefully just this year, and I’ll register anyway once I can navigate the convio.net logins (again)
As an aside - name is a bit odd per a few comments above - for me that’s probably because I can’t say it very well vs a name (that I assume can’t be used now as there is a move away from the old world - so hey ho) that was enough to elicit amusement and even engagement in a conversation. “The DPF Tour” sponsored by Wahoo would be simpler
But it’s just a name. It’s just not usable in a conversation is all … but changes nothing about the activity we’re doing. So let’s go.
Well it’s obvious isn’t it?
It’s opening with a training ride in Portugal to loosen up the legs …
Probably a quick trip in in to Switzerland to test our skills
Then I think it will head in to the mines of Moria to do battle with Balrogs
Only to exit the mines up north in Norway after a days rest for a proride ….
A spin round a virtual world will follow to leave the doors open for ….
A remember that we all thought it seemed like a good idea …
Ok, so that’s probably a wish list … but what the hell
Sorry but that’s me out, it’s not the ToS and given the great weather we have at the time I have no motivation to join in.
We know that when Wahoo bought Sufferfest that there would be a time that we saw nation of Sufferlandria decline like the great empires of Rome, Ottoman, and Spain but I had hoped that something of their greatness would remain but alas with no home for Knighthoods and now the Tos has placed her into the history books alone.
Will still use Systm as I love the concept but still sad to see the end of the Sufferfest.
@Rupert
Any specific reason this has not been posted on the WahooX training platorm app as one of the 6 cards notifying of this news?
Seems ideally strange not to launch it there but rather on a forum where you likely do not have every user.
Even an auto generete email detailing of this news would make an impact.
@David.McQuillen.KoS
It‘s really a sad day to see another part of Sufferlandrian culture is lost. But even worse that you are still using ‚Wahooligan‘. The term hooligan is used, at least in Europe, to describe a group of extremely violent, brutal people who beat each other up. This has nothing in common with the friendly interaction here. Please refrain from using this term.
Yep. I guess this is the final nail in the coffin of what was the badassness and excitement that came with the “Sufferfest”, “Sufferlandria”, “KOS Knighthood”, the original Coat of Arms, the original Knighthood Coat of Arms and “The Tour of Sufferlandria” . Even Sir David said “The Tour is Dead” which caught me by complete surprise. How is one supposed to get excited for something when the brainchild says it’s dead? Oh well. I’ll keep doing the workouts because they are,
IMHO, the best out there. They push me and and keep me “engaged” but I’ll also keep pulling my EarPods out of my ears and putting my head down at the the end of the workouts so I don’t have to hear or see that silly ass farm animal at the end.
The Wahooligan Tour? Really? What an awful choice for a name. So are all the mentions of the ToS going to be pulled from the existing videos?
I’m starting to feel like I never left Sufferlandria, but it sure left me. I’m not entirely sure I’ll do the ride this year. I rode it because it appealed to my alter ego, the one that rides motorcycles and does other crazy things. The current name retains none of that appeal. Yeah, I get the fundraising part of it, and I’ve certainly done that in the past, but that has never been the appeal. The appeal was sharing with my friends and coworkers what a wonderful, crazy, masochistic thing I was doing. It may still be all of that, but it’s not apparent in the name choice.
Pat agreed to join me again on the tandem, so we’re in for another round.
I’m in! For the 10th time, or is it technically the first time now?
Minor grumble about the date being March now as it was always a great early season fitness kicker for me. See you on the start line!
Lol!! I have nothing to do with it. I often just point people in the direction of where to find things. I’m a Google Genius I’m also just an indomitable Sufferlandrian.
NOICE!!! And welcome to the forums!
And the entry email has maybe let the cat out the bag a little on the last day
Wholeheartedly agree. While I was proud to be a Sufferlandrian, I cannot embrace “Wahooligan” because all I hear is hooligan, which is nothing good in my book.
Yeah with the COVID recovery going as it is, think I’m going to take the same tack. May have to wait and see if the WaTour (? refuse to sign on as any sort of “hooligan”) is something I can manage this year.
Indeed. I don’t have quite the same sensitivity, as “hooligan” in the USA is often used lightheartedly like this. But I really feel the asymmetry here. Sufferlandrian culture had to have all the rough edges sanded off in order to avoid putting off the greatest number of people (which is fine and good; I loved the laddishness, etc but I get how others bristle), while Wahooligan is accepted and everyone just has to take it as it’s intended (also a legitimate way to handle things). Makes me think it’s less about corporate hyper-sensitivity and more about Wahoo cultural hegemony. Judging Sufferlandria by effect, and Wahoo by intent.
I’m in!! Looking forward to kicking my own ass in support of DPF!
