Done! First time for me. My legs were so flat today and it took all I had to get through it, but I made it. It was an amazing experience and I loved the science that went into the creation of all of the stages.
Norway was super fun and the timing of the ride made for a nice break from the rest of the rides… it was cool being able to ride it when it was so new.
Looking forward to 4DP to see how much this hard work has paid off. Maybe a shot at Knighthood after that. Until then, I’m enjoying a day or two off the bike and a very cold beer.
Thanks to the Sufferfest team and to the community! Good luck to everyone who is still facing the final stage.
The hardest part is coming down off the finishing high! Give yourself a bit of recovery to take best advantage of all that hard work!
That’s a wrap! Was able to maintain 100% for the tour, although I think I’m going to really feel it tomorrow.
Thanks to all - organizers and participants - for a great Tour!
Both stages and the Tour completed at Nuclear. I always find it poignant climbing with the late Michele Scarponi in the second “stage” of Defender. Prompted an additional donation to the cause!
Done! Made it through til first block of attacker where legs seized and had to lower intensity. In the end just dragged my feet in the small recovery sections and barely made it to finish. TOS worthy last stage.
Thanks for organizers and loved to watch the messages in start of the defender. Laughed out loud on that ebike comment. Made it so much easier to start the last stage in the morning.
I did not do last year tour and have been off the bike almost since summer in terms of recreational use. So I’m very pleased to finish and proud of my self to sticking with it if only for the 7 days.
So what’s next. I try to keep the ball moving since I finally got my self on the trainer.
yeah, unbelievable. I just finished; had to kick my as to defend but as it went to attack, it went smoothly.
Lesson learned: never mess with a goat - I’m on my knees to honor your efforts at G.O.A.T. thanks for that terrific week, cheers, Peter
Passed the FINISH LINE!
First ToS, did the Focused version. Feeling the sting indeed, yet really encouraging.
Pretty happy with this event/challenge. Shout out to everyone who manged and those who broke but rode it through!
As a first timer, that was great. Really enjoyed the challenge, and made it through nuclear (apart from one minute on that hammer). Attacker is awesome - love the ‘ad’ breaks, which make the recoveries seem so much longer than they really are. Home is where the hard is, indeed…
Would have liked a slow recovery ride IRL tomorrow, but rain is forecast all day. No, no desire to be that badass…
Finished 1st ToS and really enjoyed it! Chose the focused option which in fact came pretty close to nuclear. I think that is the result of the motivation of others suffering, albeit all virtual. Congrats to all finishers and thanks for the moral support.
What is the “focused” option?
It adapts the intensity of the workouts according to your 4DP profile in order to maximize continuous gain. It is not as intense as Nuclear, yet the training load is such to make you stronger without over straining to the point that your body cannot cope with the load.
it still throws workouts at 100%.
This option was suggested at the site [2021 Tour of Sufferlandria – The Sufferfest], you select stages which you ride ‘nuclear’ (100% 4DP) and which at a lower level. I must admit that this suggestion made me participate because a whole week at 100% would probably not be very beneficial for my training plan. Today I finished Defender at 90% and Attacker at 100%.
Nuclear tour completed … many congratulations to everyone who took part. My first tour and I “enjoyed” every minute of it. I have a whole new level of respects for the Sirs and Dames … how you do ten on the bounce I just don’t know … maybe I need to find out! Off to the Nine Hammers …
Yay… that’s it… ToS #4 in the books!!
Well done to all finishers and we’re cheering on those yet to come in.
It has been an honour and a pleasure to ride with The Sufferlandrians again.
Thanks to all the riders and those who make it happen up at SUF HQ.
IWBMATTKYT.
Winter is over. Let Spring begin. The Tour is over, I m tired and very proud of my efforts today. My noble steed did well.
All done - challenging but doable route - great support and camaraderie through the week.
Managed to get through on nuclear hitting all my power targets.
Overall great experience, big thanks to everyone at SUF and DPF.
Looking forward to resetting nice new 4DP targets and starting the century plan in a couple of weeks.
Great finish - 1st time doing Attacker - yet another superbly paced workout.
Thanks GvA - a triumphant edition of the tour this year.
Two workouts I really appreciate for the last stage. Attacker was more difficult than expected (I missed a lot of the the funny bits), but I couldn’t throw in the towel so close to the goal.
Huy was one the cancelled 2020 goals, let’s hope I’ll crush it for real this year.
Thanks to all of you for the support, and congrats.
Now to the post-tour plan (FF, we’re coming)!
I absolutely love to read all the experiences and great efforts in here. Congratulations to all who already finished and future crushers!
Attacker as the last workout was pure perfection.
I have to say there were surprisingly many emotions going through my head and rolling down my cheek at the end.
Thank you all! The SUF Team! This amazing community!
We can never leave - and now I know why…
Done it, I finished my first TOS ever and with the nuclear option.
I’m tired but happy, it has been a great tour, it can be resumed in the word PERSEVERANCE.
Congratulation to all the finishers and the organisers, next year I’ll do it again.
